I stayed at Generator Dublin and this was the most disturbing experience I have had in over 40 countries.

After accidentally oversleeping, I asked to extend my stay. I was told I had to pay €70 or I would be removed immediately. Later I saw the same room listed on Airbnb for €44.50. Shortly after, two men came to my room and told me I had to leave at once.

While packing my belongings and taking a quick shower, my backpack disappeared from inside the property.

Inside were:

My passport

Multiple laptops (including two worth €2,500 each)

A backup phone

Valuable personal belongings

The total loss is approximately €3,500+.

When I reported this, I was told it was “not their responsibility.” No serious effort was made to investigate the situation in front of me. I was not shown any attempt to review CCTV. Instead, I was required to leave the premises immediately.

Losing your passport and essential work equipment in a foreign country is extremely serious. What made this experience even worse was the complete lack of support, urgency, or visible concern.

I cannot make accusations. I can only describe what happened: my belongings disappeared inside the property, and I left without answers.

A police report has been filed.

I strongly advise future guests to consider the level of security and response they expect when staying here. In my case, I felt unsupported, unprotected, and dismissed during a very serious situation.

Gave me wrong room and laughed when I said i wanted change. I Dont know how That overweight woman got that job. Illegal activities. Card didnt work 5 times too. Pub closed. Gaming room broken. Only good was the buffet but even there they were too strict with time. Nobody finish breakfast at 10 30

Terrible experience with dishonest staff. Misleading information from the start. Not pet-friendly at all—pets are banned from all common areas, which is absurd. On top of that, no refund is provided. Avoid.

We got scammed for a concert where they advertised the real Kidd but the fake Kidd came.

They didn’t refund the tickets or gave us anything.

Stay away from this place at all cost.

I don't really understand why so many 1 stat review...I do travel a lot and I can say this is a 5 star hostel.
Beautiful building in one of the top area with an amazing Staff always happy and ready to help like Milena a very lovely girl super smart and quick as I had a couples of issue and she fixed in no time...always with a full smile on her face.
This kind of people make it a 5 Star place!!!

So noisy! Young people/children running in hallways at night, banging on doors. And the hotel does nothing. You wont get any sleep here!

The staff is a group of intonoperhendable idiots. My class needed to set our baggage in the hostel before going home, and they couldn’t find a place for over an hour, since it was full booked. The rooms was the most horrible thing I have ever seen in my hole life. They were too hot, and didn’t have a bathroom. You needed to go to the public bathrooms which was soo bad, because there was poop everywhere, and feminine hygiene products overflowing the bathroom stalls. The showers was also very nasty, so nasty that I began to cry while taking a shower. The only nice thing about the hostel was the lobby, but the breakfast was so horrible, disgusting, unacceptable and traumatising because they found mold on the bread. Therefore I would not recommend the hostel for other schools, classes or people in general. Not even my worst enemy.

Teacher here, using hostels for most trips with students. This is simply not good enough. Pros: Great shared spaces. That really is all.
Cons: Wifi is VERY slow to the point where it is unusable for anything but text. No way to get a coffee after 10pm (No machine, only sold in bar, which closes at that time). Very small rooms with six three-story bunkbeds (Glad I am the teacher and have my own room), no windows that can be opened, and not enough ventilation to make it breathable. Only one shower and toilet for 6 people?!?? (Make some shared shower areas, if that is the room sizes you are going for) Breakfast is the most sad experience I have EVER encountered in a hostel with that service provided. Showers can just about deliver (Three showers now, none very warm). Mattresses are coated with rubber so as to make sleeping rather sweaty. But yeah, easy to clean for the staff! There is such a thing as too effective...
I know I am not at a hotel. But this is just below standard for normal hostels. Even a cool brand and logo can't save that. Do better. ESPECIALLY with the coffee, that is just a low blow, when working late. I mean, never seen a hostel without a damn machine for that service. And in many you can make it yourself in the room with a kettle. The reason for two stars and not one is the shared space, which are fine.

We arrived around 16:30, our room was a completely mess, dirty, no bed made, toilet nasty, very unprofesional. The reception basically care nothing, they were rude saying we should wait until the room is done cleaning, they don't offer any other options, very rude the two ladies from the reception, even an apologize. perfect day to start holidays. This place is a scam. Run away of this place, I cannot put a 0 qualification.

There wasn’t hot water coming in my room so I went down to reception for complain about it but she said me the maintenance will take time and you have check out soon too , I said I want to get shower and she replied me to use general bathroom . I had to use it because I had check out at that day but the issue is I have paid for 4 bedroom en suite not for general service. I don’t like their service. The rest of the thing is alright.

I’m reviewing with the generator hostel in Hamburg. The old guy from the reception told me I can’t get a lower part of the bed contrary to the ‘ok’ answer I had with from booking that com during the time of my booking. No one is occupying the lower bunk bed but still he said even if you pay more we can’t give it to you. I hope what happen to me will not happen to other travellers. Thanks

The best hotel I have ever been to, really recommended

Terrifying experience!!! I returned to the facility and my backpack was no longer in the locker. They had broken my padlock and taken everything away. After hours of reporting the incident and asking to call the police and review the cameras, the person on duty that evening (very young and experienced girls) still didn't know what to do. Suspicious of this behavior, I looked into the inside of the reception desk and there I saw my backpack thrown in an open corner and everything checked. At that point I asked for an explanation of why my backpack was there and the answer I was given was that one of their colleagues on the previous shift had broken my padlock and taken my backpack because they thought it belonged to a customer who had left it there. To compensate me for what happened since it had ruined my first night of stay I asked for compensation for the broken lock and the cancellation of the reservation which was thankfully accepted and the refund on the credit card was guaranteed within two working days. In addition, the garden offered me a private home that I did not even want to accept but they insisted and in the end I took advantage of the additional offer. Accepting the upgrade was a mistake on my part because they never refunded me the agreed amount. They were very dishonest and liars, for that I reported them to an association for the protection of citizens' rights and I am waiting for them to proceed with the complaint against them. I will never book in one of their facilities again.

This is by far the worst hotel experience i have ever had. The rooms are filthy, between the mattresses was old nikotin pouches and old candy. THERE IS NO HOUSE KEEPING AT ALL! in our 5 day stay the trash can was not cleaned ONCE. It smelled like diarriah. Service only cam into rooms to check if you had brought alcohol to your room.

Breakfast was beyond trash, and everything in the reception was beyond overpriced.

I should have slept with the homeless, would have been cleaner

Stayed at Generator Paris. 1st night a cleaner or security guard who worked there came into the room at 1:20am, turned on all the lights n banged around. I woke up and asked what he was doing and he ignored me and left. 3rd night I was there the bed next to mine checked out in the morning. Cleaning staff came and cleared my bed. Changed the sheets and took all my personal belongings. When I arrived back my key wouldn't work so I went down and got a new key. Went back up to find that my property had been taken. Went back down to be told that there were no cleaning staff until the next day at 8am. I was checking out the next day so I went down early to recover my items. They weren't found. Aside from that my booking made through Hostelworld clearly says checkout is at 00:00 but I was told 10am by the desk staff and that I'd be charged extra for a late checkout. It's a good location and clean in terms of hostels. It's a shame there were so many bad experiences that went with it. I was never offered any compensation for my things that were taken which was also quite disappointing. If you stay there; lock everything up!! Don't leave any valuables in the dorm rooms

Horrendous do not visit here as I came here with my two children and planned on staying for 4 nights and when we got in we found a ball of pubes in the bed sheets of one of the beds and stains all over the walls and matrices.we did not stay the full 4 days as I did not want to catch a disease. Horrendous stay I should’ve bought a nandos instead I want a refund.

Absolutely awful, we have stayed here and did not sleep at all due to the uncomfortable conditions and we were all very itchy. Dust and unclean beds as well as stains and the bathrooms are disgusting, you feel like you need to go somewhere else to clean yourself. Extremely unsatisfied with the experience.
