Stay clear at all costs

Worst agent experience of my life. I was assured of a dedicated agent before signing the contract and was then passed from pillar to post with no continuity. Had agents doing viewings who had never seen my house. Connells proposed using their conveyancing solicitors to both me and potential buyers (conflict of interest). The solicitor firm I was given (Swiitch) were beyond awful and I had to check every document for them due to their lack of interest/diligence/experience. The solicitor firm my buyers were given (Conveyancing Direct) are owned by Connells (another conflict of interest) and were slow and unresponsive. My onward purchase was also handled by Connells and that seller was also using Conveyancing Direct (third conflict of interest). Due to Connells not doing their upfront due diligence, the purchase failed and subsequently my sale failed. Lost money and spent 7 months of my life in a stressful situation. Awful, incompetent, disgraceful

Disappointing experience

We had a deeply disappointing experience with Connells Estate Agency. Their mortgage advisor, Paul Taylor, was condescending, while agent Natalie Smith was unresponsive and dismissive, failing to follow up on our full-price offer. Despite multiple calls, we were ignored and misled. Poor communication, lack of professionalism, and disrespectful treatment—especially towards foreign buyers—made the process frustrating and unacceptable. Would not recommend.

Connells has become a nuisance caller

Connells has become a nuisance caller, sometimes calling me multiple times a day to ask how my property sale is going. I've told them each time that my house has sold and I have bought another, asking them to remove me from their call list, only to be called again a day (sometimes only an hour) later! I've been told three times that my phone number will be taken down and yet I continue to get the call. This has to be a GDPR breach and if they continue I will be taking it further.

Property sale

I called this evening to inquire about a newly listed property in Northampton for sale .We shared our financial details and confirmed that we have a mortgage advisor and a mortgage in principle for more than they asked . When offered the chance to see estate agency mortgage advisor to potentially assist with financing options, we declined and opted to stick with our current advisor. However, when we requested a viewing, we were informed that the next available date is February 22, which is almost a month away. Is it standard policy to schedule appointments more than 20 days out if we choose not to work with your mortgage advisor? This is the first time we've encountered such a situation with an estate agency in Northampton.

I have been with Connells for 3 years…

I have been with Connells for 3 years and in that time I only had 2 offers both fell though one kept me holding on for 6 months ask Connells what was going on told waiting for them to get a mortgage and that was through there own mortgage company, total waste of time run by inexperienced staff one junior and another not been in the business that long, avoid them like the plague total unless and want to hold me to a 28 day release on a contract that was only original for 10 weeks, and won't let me go. Even when I told them I will give them a bad review

Excellent Service Connells Yeovil

We asked Connells Yeovil to value and market our property. James (branch manager) visited and we quickly realised that this was the company/person we wanted to sell our property. James was helpful, knowledgeable and "on the ball". Over the following months all the staff in the Yeovil branch were extremely helpful and focussed on selling our property.
The communication was excellent always returning my calls within very short timescales answering questions no matter how busy they were.
I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received from the Yeovil Branch

Connells Wolverhampton= they have now…

Connells Wolverhampton= they have now not responded to several request that I have asked for. Most recently to view a property. Another one they told me a property had to be knocked down, due to structural damage. (investor purchased and built a lovely house plus 2 other properties on this plot) This company prefers to make there profits by selling to investors, not folk trying to get by.

Connells Exeter ... don't go there

I have been trying to sell my house through Connells Exeter branch and have now terminated my contract. I can honestly say that I have never before dealt with a company so arrogantly and poorly managed.

I am abroad so I need regular updates. A phone call was promised every week but for two months never happened.

Worse I was told that I should reduce the price because Rightmove viewing had dipped. I checked and could not see that so I immediately wrote to say I was worried to reduce the price. They went ahead anyway and failed to do the relaunch that they had told me was so important to be tied in with the price drop.

‘Dealing’ with the Connells is in itself something of a misnomer since the Exeter manager never once managed to talk with me about the problems and lack of service provided, despite many requests for her to call me.

She was out on visits and dealing with other things. too busy to call me to fix problems. the nearest I got was an offer to call me at the end of her work one day - past midnight my time!

In frustration I wrote 3 times to the directors of Connells. I never even received the curtesy of an acknowledgement. If the top brass can't reply it is hard to expect a mere branch manager to do so!

Strongly advise not to sell through this company. much better to find a smaller, hungry young business wanting to grow a reputation

Plymouth Branch

Plymouth Branch
We recently just switch to Connells as they are meant to be good however seriously considering cancelling the contract. We had viewings set up now twice and the day before all viewings everyone single one has cancelled. I am now asking were these viewings made up to please us or has anyone else out there had same thing happen.

Beware of them!! Deal with them if you wish to mess up your peaceful life. …

I wish it was possible to give zero star to connell. Rented out my property thru them. Paid for full management. Connells rented the property to a tenant who i was not very comfortable with. Connells didnt conduct their “regular visits” , i had to call connells for 2 months to request a visit which finally happened. Connells sent an inexperienced person who didnt pick up anything, on my request they sent someone else only to find out that tenant was subletting my property. Tenant picked my connells damaged my property, when I complained to connells they said “sorry” and didnt take any responsibility for their wrong doing. They said the contract was between me and the tenant and connells had nothing to do with it. Taking them to ombudsman now because they are absolutely terrible at their jobs and absolutely useless. Stay away from connells . They are pure bad news. I do not know how a bad company like this can even survive, their rental team in Dudley is absolutely shambles. People leave that place in few months and run away. Since i have been with them their staff changes every few weeks. Management is a nightmare. They have got “floats” they will keep your money and will never pay full rent to you, beware of them. Absolute mess and they will never do what they say. Very unprofessional.

SCAMMERS

I had to withdraw my offer from buying a very nice house. This guys are so unprofessional, there is a huge lack of knowledge, values and integrity. They will be happy if they rape you of £100. Will quote the mortgage advisor for £699, but when you get to pay it, will be actually a £100 more, as administration fee. Also, the amount of money that they are telling you have to spend on the house and documents has nothing to do with reality, not sure if they lie deliberately or they don’t know about their job. Going forward, a simple calculation of the stamp duty that we are all happy to pay it in order to comply with legislation, is too much for the mortgage advisor Pritesh to make it right, în sens that, even though I told him this is not my first property, the one that I am living in I do not sell it, guess what, he booked Halifax to come to evaluate my property for selling purposes. Imagine loosing my house for such a no brained person.
Awaiting for the refund now…which I bet I will not get it back, they probably feel rich now.
Samanta îs always on the phone or in a meeting, I hope it’s about how to regain the own values and dignity, definitely not about the job because A simple unqualified person can do it better that she does.
I need two days to talk about how scammers be like are Connells.
Do not get any closer to them even if you need to, find alternative.

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service, me and my family were really interested in a property but there were a few complications with this particular property, connells estate agent in West Bromwich were so unhelpful to us, when we tried to called they seemed so uninterested and unbothered, constantly having to chase them up and they would not call us to keep us updated.
Absolutely horrendous service, I don't know how they make sales !

Birmingham branch very poor

Birmingham branch very poor. Overpromised and underdelivered. Communication has been close to none existent and I was always having to chase. They passed me onto IAMSOLD as they couldn't sell my property, which was a disaster. They then agreed they should market the property to the open market again and failed to achieve anything (over 15 separate individuals viewed the property).

Missed viewings due to employees not turning up - without rearranging them. It took me to chase to ask for feedback to be told they'd been missed.

Icing on the cake is - I've emailed 3 days ago (with this feedback) to say I've finally had enough and asked them to removed my property from right-move and their website. They've ignored this email entirely and everything is still up.

Torquay branch

Torquay branch. Terrible experience. GDPR breach. Did not offer any services they said they would. Did not communicate at all. Cancelled viewings at last minute because they had no staff to show.
Steered potential buyers away from our property and did not inform us of viewing requests as retaliation for raising valid complaints.
2 months absolutely wasted.
Ran by vindictive, arrogant children.
Upper management tries to defend and deflect despite black and white proof.
Will pursue with Ombudsman.
Avoid at all costs.

Connells Crowborough avoid

Connells Crowborough avoid

The staff from Connells selling new houses on an extension to this development have absolutely no consideration for their neighbours. Our road is a private road managed by the residents. We have no parking signs on the road signs but also other signs erected by a very considerate developer Dandara who are building a neighbouring site. These signs say no parking for their contractors. At least one sign is placed on our garden. Connells have decided to remove the signs including one on our garden. So we are once again plagued by non residents taking up our parking bays. Often there is nowhere for our visitors to park. They have no jurisdiction to do this. They are arrogant and have absolutely no consideration for others. Not forgetting that they sold us the out of date searches for our house which did not show a roundabout or the development of 100 plus houses directly opposite us. Read all the reviews about Connells on Trustpilot and you will see that nearly all say avoid Connells after bad experiences with them.

Chased for over 3 months for a refund and still have not received it

I am a landlord and have been using Connells in Basingstoke to manage my rental property for over 3 yrs. In Dec 2023, I used one of their handyman to fix my property. They mistakenly charged me twice for the same service invoice. Its end of March 2024 and I have lost count on how many times i've chased them for this refund. I've chased my property manager Ms. Kelsey Evans about this numerous times. I rang up their accounts department as well. They say they'll sort it out but unfortunately no refund yet. £478.80 is significant amount and they have been holding on it for over 3 months now. I'm sick and tired of chasing. Extremely disappointed with their service.
