!!Avoid mobile tyre service!!
Technician damaged 2 of 4 alloys while replacing the tyres, pictures provided to Halfords a week ago have been ignored. There are lots of reputable tyre specialists out there, take your car to a garage and avoid this service.

Negligent Battery Replacement & No Coding – Damaged My Car’s Systems
I had a shocking experience with Halfords Hardwick after a battery replacement on my SEAT Ateca (2021) on 28 December 2025. They fitted the wrong‑capacity battery (65Ah instead of 59Ah) and refused to perform the required battery coding, even when I specifically asked for it. The technician simply plugged in a device, cleared the errors in front of me, and claimed everything was “done.”From that moment, my car began suffering serious electrical faults: low‑voltage warnings, immobiliser not recognised, the vehicle going “sleepy,” and multiple system errors while driving. again i went their and they were doing 10‑point check instead of battery issue also it was clearly not carried out just emailed marked as “Passed” with no evidence infront of me.
After repeated complaints,with hard wick refused I was pushed to the King’s Lynn branch, where they confirmed the new Yuasa battery needed charging again — only three months after installation. Despite this, the same issues continued.Worse still, my infotainment system crashed immediately after Halfords’ work: Wi‑Fi shows “Internet not available,” user profile won’t sync, factory reset fails, online services and Full Link stopped working, and vehicle security features relying on online connectivity no longer function. this is consistent with incorrect battery coding or voltage drop during Halfords’ procedure, which caused the OCU and MIB3 gateway to lose configuration.This negligence has caused months of electrical instability, loss of security features, repeated inconvenience, and significant mental stress. My vehicle is now partially unusable because of Halfords’ poor workmanship.
Extremely disappointed and strongly advise avoiding this service.

The bloke came out today and fitted 4 new tyres on my Peugeot expert van. He was only here 45 minutes.
He was very polite and done a fantastic job.

Products unavailable on day of booked appointment
Had booked to have tyres done on a rare day off. Got a missed call first thing so returned it. First call handler told me that the tyres were unavailable. Why? Why would you not make sure you had them in stock for an appointment before the day of? Call handler put me on hold while he got up next available appointments then he hung up. Got back through to him and he pretended it wasn’t him and sent me on a wild goose chase through various equally useless customer service departments until I had had enough and just went to cancel it and get a refund. Took me over a hour to sort it out. What a mess and an easy way to ruin my day. I wouldn’t recommend.
Had dashcam fitted by Halfords - don’t!
Had dashcam fitted by Halfords (had to buy the camera from them). Within a few weeks it had fallen off the windscreen as the stickie pad was no longer sticking. I went back back and they were not interested at all. I kicked up a fuss (the fitting wasn’t cheap!) and they reluctantly put a new stickie pad on and stuck it back. It fell off again within a few weeks. I’ve now tried various stickie pads, glue, black gaffa tape - all to no avail, so I’m going to have to pay another £80 to get someone else to fit it so that it stays. Very poor service from Halfords. Do not recommend
Halfords is a shocking company
** FURTHER UPDATE 20/4 - this gets worse. I submitted a complaint via Resolver about Halfords failure to supply the correct refund after they slyly fitted a lower spec battery than that which I paid for. I had a reply from Lauryn who said she would process the refund upon receipt of my bank details and offered a £10 gift card for my trouble. I responded today and got an automated reply back saying the email address is no longer in use, so once again I can’t contact them. Are you kidding, Halfords? YOU ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!
** UPDATE: I received a gift card for about half the amount I am due, no apology, no replacement invoice, annd again Live Chat terminated my chat saying no-one available during opening hours. Utterly incompetent. **
Odd how Halfords Mobile Expert has two profiles on Trustpilot, is that allowed?
I booked a mobile battery fitting. The guy turned up on time, friendly and professional, however, not with the battery I ordered. I ordered a Yuasa battery and he arrived with a lower spec, cheaper, Halfords own brand battery. Fortunately I was watching over the fitter and noticed it wasn’t what I ordered because I don’t think Halfords was going to volunteer that information.
I agreed he could fit it if he arranged a refund for the price difference, and obviously I will need a receipt that confirms what battery they fitted, for guarantee purposes.
I attempted to contact Live Chat during their opening hours but each time was told no agent available and no option to wait. I did get a random email saying a refund would be processed and I would have it within 3 working days. That hasn’t happened.
Shoddy service, they seem to intentionally make it difficult for people to contact them. Well, I’ll be coming for you like a Rottweiler, Halfords, you won’t get away with ripping me off!
Kindly refund my money.
Needless to say, I won’t be renewing my Motoring Club membership.
Don't use
Don't use. I booked for a tyre mobile fit. Cancelled due to sickness on first attempt. Rescheduled a week later and brought the incorrect tyre. Rescheduled again and once again have brought the right tire. 3 weeks on still carless. An absolute shambles.
Do not use Halfords if you have an Audi Q7
Mobile fitter, didn’t do the service fully as requested, tyre switch paid for but not done. Wrecked sensor!
Audi Q7 has sensors in the wheels that break if a tyre change is not carried out correctly, we flagged to the technician yet he still mucked this up… £750 to have this corrected by Audi.
Required tyres - Halfords to the rescue
Required tyres quickly - rang Halfords 'Tyre Fitting at Home' was dealt with by a very helpful operator who took my booking dealt with payment and confirmed my requirements - on the day of fitting was kept informed of my booking slot and time of arrival by fitter - arrived on time - very courteous and pleasant - 4 tyres supplied and fitted complete with balancing, disposal of old tyres egg all within 1 hour and on a Bank Holiday (April 6th) -

I would have put 0 if I could… looked up a new batterv for my bmw, offered 2 and ordered one for mobile fitting and booked time slot. Technician turned up and said that look totally different from fitted battery and said some do differ. Fitted and quickly append the wrong one, he called depot and offered one £50 more expensive but 4 day wait and new slot booked. No response so tried calling the joke they call customer service unable to talk to a human and online expert chat is even worse and cut off with a real question, Calle number on battery order and told Halfords dont even sell the right batter and the 2 shown on the site for my car were only a representation. Told to buy one on eBay get it delivered to Halfords, tow my car there and they could fit it…… absolutely incredible and worst service ever, if you can AVOID HALFORDS then do so will never shop there again with ZERO CUSTOMER CARE OR SERVICE AND ATOTAL JOKE……
Ordered 2 tyres to be fitted
Ordered 2 tyres to be fitted. Was told fitter would come in the morning. No phone call to inform me he would be late ( they had the wrong telephone number). Fitter turned up about 2pm with the wrong tyres which he couldn't fit. Rang their office the next day, and was told the tyres I ordered weren't available, and would have to get a different make! Good thing – these tyres were a lot cheaper. Bad thing - I would have to wait another 4 days. I asked the office person to ensure they had my correct telephone number. On the day of the fitting, the fitter was late – he had only been given 1-tyre and had to go and get another one. Again no early telephone call. The fitter eventually arrived and was a very good guy. Unfortunately he could only fit one tyre as the spare which I wanted changing was a different wheel with a get you home tyre – my fault. Fitter took the tyre back and told me I would be getting a refund for it. Rang Halfords customer support service after about a week and was told refunds take about 7 to 10 days (why/). 2 and a half weeks later – no refund. I appreciate I made a mistake about he spare and would have to pay a surcharge as mobile service is for 2 tyres minimum, but to charge for a whole tyre?? Come on Halfords, this is not good enough.

Tyre was fitted to wheel fine but refused to put wheel on car. Was told the way the spare tyre had been fitted was too dangerous to touch. I was still advised by both engineer and later a manager to drive on the wheel they said was too dangerous to change.
Avoid Halfords
I purchased tyres from the website after entering my registration number it gave me a list of compatible tyres .
When they came to fit them the fitter said the tyres were not compatible due to the cars weight.
So why were they in the list I was offered.
They have now deducted £40 from my refund because of an aborted visit which was not my fault.
Shall not be going to Halfords again.
Halford cancelled my appointment
Halford cancelled my appointment as they said tyres never arrived from supplier then rebooked for 2 days later. Again got another phone call that morning same excuse to cancel again.

For a full tyre replacement, phoned and kept in contact, advised me all through a problem i had. was cheerful and professional. Spent extra time with me explaining things through and went absolutely above and beyond for my car. 10/10 service- the guy to go for when you have car troubles.

Halfords Tyre Fitting Mobile service are fairly frequent visitors to our address and I felt the need to express my happiness with the service.
Often the cheapest and they come to you, polite and professional in over 12 separate visits I cannot fault them.

Very disappointing and misleading service
I had a very poor experience with Halfords mobile service following a battery replacement.
I was initially told by their staff that there were warning lights on my dashboard which was simply not true. There were no warning lights before the work was carried out. Based on this incorrect information, they proceeded with the battery replacement.
After the replacement, several issues appeared that were not there before which including sensors and multiple dashboard functions stopping working. When I raised this, the team who attended clearly didn’t understand what had gone wrong and were unable to fix the problem.
I was then advised to take the car to an auto specialist at my own cost. The garage identified and fixed the issue, which was clearly caused after the battery replacement. However, despite this, Halfords are now refusing to reimburse the cost.
This experience has been extremely frustrating:
• Incorrect information given at the start (false warning lights)
• New faults introduced after their work
• Lack of technical knowledge to resolve the issue
• Refusal to take responsibility or cover the repair costs
I would not recommend this service based on my experience. Please be cautious and consider getting a second opinion before proceeding with any work.
