Started the journey of selling my flat with Bridgfords well, great listing, quickly found a buyer, then Bridgfords conveyancing service took over and was incompetent at every turn. 6 months on from ac... See more

The worst out there
The worst out there, put us through so much drama, very stressful and mentally draining, their mortgage broker is absolutely useless, 4 months later we were declined, absolute waste of time, waste of energy, they just didn't want us to buy it for some reason, maybe because we are a different skin colour to them! Stay away from the burnley branch, good lord, how do they get away with this bs.
Some things never change - still shoddy
Some things never change. We bought our house through Bridgfords 5 years ago- not a good experience. They don’t answer the phone or answer emails. Today, as we’ve decided to sell the house, I thought to myself "maybe they’ve changed." I’ve called them 4 X, each time being redirected to an answering machine.I’ve emailed them and no reply. A continuation of a shoddy service continues. The 2 other estate agents I’ve contacted have replied more or less straight away and visits have been arranged. I honestly don’t know how Bridgfords survives in the current economic climate.
Holly & Nathanial @ Stockton Heath
I’m so grateful to Nathanial, Holly and Sam at Bridgfords Stockton Heath. They’ve helped me through two moves during one of the hardest times in my life, and their support has genuinely meant the world. They were kind, patient and completely on top of everything.
Thank you for going above and beyond for me.
My experience with Bridgfords/Countrywide
My experience with Bridgfords/Countrywide has been extremely disappointing.
After relocating to London for work, I repeatedly tried to resolve my tenancy responsibly. I made multiple attempts to find a replacement tenant myself, maintained regular communication with the branch, and kept the company informed of my financial situation throughout. Despite this, I felt there was very little practical support or flexibility offered.
The "change of sharer" process was frustrating and entirely dependent on the landlord's approval, while I was left to find replacements on my own. Several prospective replacements fell through for reasons outside my control, leaving me paying for accommodation in both Newcastle and London at the same time.
Although the staff acknowledged my circumstances, the responses I received were largely limited to repeating company policy rather than working towards a practical solution. As a tenant who genuinely tried to communicate and cooperate throughout, I was left feeling unsupported during a period of significant financial hardship.
If you are considering renting through this branch, be aware that if your circumstances change unexpectedly, you may find there is very little flexibility or practical assistance available.
I hope the company reviews how it supports tenants facing genuine hardship, because my experience has been stressful and extremely disappointing.
2 month+ deposit return delay
I rented a property managed by Bridgfords and moved out two months ago. I still have not received my deposit back. Since moving out, I have called and emailed the branch multiple times to follow up. My calls have been hung up on, and my emails have gone unanswered. For an agency that expects tenants to meet strict deadlines and requirements throughout the tenancy, this level of service at the end of the process has been disappointing. I would think carefully before renting through Bridgfords based on this experience.
One of the worst estate company i have…
One of the worst estate management company i have come across . The manager and one mr Mamood were disgusting and very wicked human being. The Took my £2000.00 from my account without seeing the property .
They kept my money from 24 October 2024 to March 2025. My bank and my friends intervened in to the matter before my money was return to me . They manager and senior managers do not care and are not bothered.

New
If I could give zero stars I would one of the worst letting agents I’ve ever come across the new manager Stacey is patronising, rude and obnoxious. As an experienced landlord of multiple properties who has decided to take a backseat and enjoy retirement, she did nothing to reassure me and was trying to educate someone with 32 years experience. Went completely against all my wishes with no compromise she not only tried to reduce the rent which her area manager had recommended within a week of advertising in a completely refurbished property at my expense but also tried to force me to put any old tenant in the property just to start earning her fee. Thankfully I’ve removed the property from them and will NEVER deal with them again. I’ve dealt with other brands under the countrywide banner and had all but praise for them, but this branch and in particular this manager is not a good representation of Bridgfords. I would say to anyone AVOID AVOID AVOID at all costs !
Avoid at all costs
Our experience with Bridgfords Leeds has been appalling from start to finish, and I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this letting agent.
We were pushed hard to move into the property quickly. During the viewing, we saw mould and only agreed to sign on the condition that it would be treated before move-in. It was not. When we moved in on 31 July 2025, there was still mould across a bedroom, in the bathroom, and on appliances including the fridge and cupboards. There was also drug paraphernalia left behind. No tenant should be rushed into moving into a flat in that condition.
It took around two months for the mould to be dealt with properly. In the meantime, we spent months chasing Bridgfords for updates, action and basic communication. On multiple occasions over several weeks we were ignored, fobbed off, had calls ended on us, or were not contacted back. Instead of fixing the problem, they left us to do the chasing.
We also asked Bridgfords for a copy of the signed form where we had raised the condition that the mould would be treated before move-in. They refused to provide it, ignored repeated emails, and only responded after we made a formal request to obtain the document. Then, the day before the deadline, the form was suddenly “found” and uploaded.
Alia Gould, the manager, was a major part of this experience. In our view, she handled the situation extremely poorly. Our concerns were not treated with the seriousness, urgency or professionalism expected from a letting agent. We were repeatedly left feeling ignored and dismissed.
After moving in, we discovered that the landlord had not kept up with the mortgage and the flat was at risk of repossession. We contacted Bridgfords and were told they knew nothing about it. We were repeatedly told they were in contact with the landlord and assured that everything was fine. At the same time, our emails on this issue went unanswered for weeks.
After around three months, the property was removed from Bridgfords’ management and taken into receivership. Only once the rent was no longer going to Bridgfords did they start replying properly — and at that point they began emailing us claiming we were in arrears, despite us having told them from day one exactly what was happening and keeping them updated.
After being pushed to move quickly into a property that was not properly prepared, we ended up facing eviction because the bank had taken control of the flat and wanted to sell it. Within around nine months of moving in, we were being forced out of a tenancy we had entered into in good faith and expected to last until at least 30 July 2026.
We made a formal complaint and escalated it through O’Connells’ complaints process, where we were first offered £150 and then £200 while being told Bridgfords did not believe they had done anything wrong. We then took the matter to The Property Ombudsman. After pursuing it from late 2025 through to July 2026, the Ombudsman upheld key parts of our complaint, found shortcomings in how Bridgfords handled the property condition at move-in and how they communicated with us, and ordered them to pay £400 compensation.
This has been one of the most stressful and exhausting renting experiences we have ever had. Bridgfords Leeds showed no real accountability, urgency, or care for us as tenants when things went wrong. Based on our experience, I would urge anyone to avoid Bridgfords Leeds.
Disrespectful and Desperate, Data Breach
We viewed a property and after loving it in person offered a cash offer of asking price their and then.
Within the same hour, I got a call from the agent who shown us round to be told it was going to Auction.
I checked the listing, and it didn't mention auction, but this was updated the next morning.
The estate agent had every opportunity to call us to inform us it was an auction property.
It seems we had a lucky escape since we have found out the property has had two collapsing sales, for such a desirable area and its price point, these are huge red flags.
I called the agency first thing during the morning after our viewing at 9am, to say we aren't interested, we viewed a property to buy not to be told until after viewing it that it was auction, oh and it get's better they tried to make out it was a good deal, yeah a deal that would cost us 4.5% of a minimum of 6.600 in auction fees that we never knew of until afterwards and would never have considered had we of known this information before the viewing.
I said, please don't get anyone to call me, but the auction company called me anyway, I tell them we are not interested. I have since had two more calls from the auction company ( which i understand is a sister style company to this agency ).
I've had to block the number and inform my solicitor of a data protection breach, as I said I did not want to speak to anyone from auction.
Also had a call in desperation from the agency saying oh the price has dropped. " Firstly, no it hasn't because of the fees; secondly, we said we were not interested, why was this not respected.
I have never heard of this agency before we did the viewing and I wouldn't be surprised by the many low reviews; they will be able to continue in business much longer.
Hoping this review grabs their attention because this is what happens when you harass someone.
Don't follow correct and legal protocol and respect people's privacy.
Great experience with Maciek…
Great experience with Maciek Starczewski. He had remortgaged my house when no mortgage brokers could help. Huge thank you ☺️.
I wrote an email to one of their sales…
I wrote an email to one of their sales colleagues about a viewing who wouldn't open the door to me. The sales colleague never responded back to my email. Plus they've not bothered to notife me about a property I was interested in but is now sold!
Initial complaint re Bridgfords, Knutsford
So after my initial complaint, Ombudsman here i come. It took Connells 3 weeks to answer my first complaint about Bridgfords Knutsford. In the reply they didnt answer any of my complaint but totally whitewashed everyrhing i said to suit their own narrative, basically called me a liar. Don't bother complaining to them go straight to the ombudsman and get a proper hearing from an educated adult.
1 Star is too many stars in my opinion...
I approached Bridgfords and Michael Poole last year to see about selling my late fathers Bungalow. I found their sales tactics to be a bit off, immediately trying to upsell me services I personally felt had no value, insisting it would make every difference. I begged to differ and having a bad gut feeling about them and a positive experience with Michael Poole I chose Michael Poole instead. Then came the phone calls trying to get me to switch and saying they would do a better job. After the second phone call I made it clear I was definitely not going to change my mind and asked them to remove my number from their records and not call me again. I received several other phone calls 2 or 3 weeks apart from each other and after repeatedly asking them to not call me again, the final call I received I told them (not very nicely) that if they contacted me one more time I would report them to the police for harassment as I had made it clear on several occasions I didn't want them to contact me.
My advice to anybody looking to sell a house is don't even contact Bridgfords for a valuation. You can look at my review of Michael Poole to see how I found the service from them overall if you want to.
The date I have recorded as my experience is the date of the second from final phone call i received as the final one was from a mobile so I cant be certain of the date without calling a few numbers to check.
I have purposefully waited for the property to sell before leaving this review.
would not recommend this company to any…
would not recommend this company to any landlord. The fees are extremely high, with additional charges that are not always made clear from the outset. Communication is poor, and it is often very difficult to get hold of staff when you need support or answers.
The contractors they use are also significantly overpriced, leaving landlords with unnecessarily expensive maintenance bills. For the amount charged, the level of service provided is disappointing. Overall, my experience has been frustrating, costly, and poor value for money. I would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
STAY AWAY - BRIDGFORDS DARLINGTON
I purchased a property from Bridgfords in December 2025.
They have been holding the keys. I arranged my own contractors to start renovating the property. Bridgfords decided to change the locks without my consent and knowledge, I have been chasing them for almost a month now to get the money refunded back to me but it has been a struggle and a battle.
Do not use this agency as they cannot be trusted and are horrible and difficult to work with.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE INCOMPETANT, GREEDY MONEY GRABBERS
Never contact me after numerous call…
Never contact me after numerous call and direct messages.
As a landlord I find this appalling.
I have tried since may to contact them but to no avail.
I am thinking of leaving breaking my contract and go with court action if needed.
Fraud risk
Refused to return deposit after tenancy ended, eventually complying four months later after we enacted formal action. Ignored all our calls and emails, and during the little communication I could get with them I was treated with more rudeness and dishonesty than I have ever experienced. In particular Deposits Manager Paddy and Leanne consistently treated us with the utmost contempt. Probably some sort of illegal operations behind the scenes. Avoid!
We are letting
We are letting - our Main contacts have been Through Megan M . She has proven knowledgeable around the new legislation. Flexible in her dealings with us . Most importantly easy to communicate with and responsive.
Grace her colleague appeared friendly and focused and a team player. It’s early in the process but we are impressed
Bridgefords are the worst estate agents…
Bridgefords are the worst estate agents i have ever come across, i am so glad i did not decide to sell my house with them! They never answer the calls, constantly leaving voicemails, very rarely they call you back! I viewed a property with them a week or so ago & no follow up phone call the following day, I wanted to make an offer , left several voicemails & nothing! Please avoid Bridgefords at all costs. They are the worst estate agents i have ever come across. Please stay away!
ignored, patronised and falsely accused
3 months into our tenancy we've experience the following with Bridgfords/Countrywide/Entwistle Green (no, I have no idea why they all take turns to email me or why they have different names if they're basically all the same company):
* being told I had incorrectly logged repair reports online, despite following the printed handout we were given upon arrival to the letter. when I explained this, all I was met with was "the name of the person who gave you this information". I didn't really care about that, I just wanted the repairs done. This employee then ghosted us and never messaged back.
*several issues we reported in our first week STILL have not been addressed, it's a joke.
*it took around a month of emails and phone calls with various other employees just to get somebody to sort our broken boiler and thermostat out; we had no heating all that time and this was when it was still freezing every day.
*we were instructed to order a bin from the local council and pay for the bin ourselves, then minus that fee from our next rent payment. despite being told to do this, Countrywide/Bridgfords sent us a threatening email saying we were in arrears. I replied back saying this was rubbish, only to be ignored for two days. I only got a reply when I sent a follow up saying I would message literally every day until they backed off and apologised. Funnily enough, 5 minutes later, they finally replied.
*it for some reason took a month for them to remove the 'for rent' sign outside. again, as soon as I complained, it magically disappeared shortly after.
*I had to fix a broken kitchen drawer myself within the first month myself because they refused to acknowledge the issue which had been present since day 1.
*customer service is woefully slow. if you want to communicate via email, you get whinged at and pushed towards phone calls, which you then get dumped onto hold for and have patchy reception anyway.
*during those phone calls, I'd be told 'this will happen, the landlord is sorting this', but nothing ever happens.
*we've had 3 - soon to be 4 - visits from a contractor with regards to our bath/shower. how it takes this many call outs to repair one tap is beyond me.
*this latest instance of the contractor coming around has now broken the bath tap, no hot water, the seal is leaking, he's caused some damage to the kitchen and even our front door doesn't shut properly due to some equipment he'd had resting against the door for an hour. What does Bridgfords/Countrywide have to say about this? 'You should have pointed it out due avoid another unnecessary visit to the property'. Yeah okay, i'm so sorry for beinga dumb tenant who refused to let the contractor leave until i'd magically detected various issues around the house and bullied him into fixing them. if we'd arranged for this to take place when out of the house anyway, what would this 'Emily' have said to me then, "you should have stayed at home and not gone to work to prevent another home visit". what nonsense. this woman is on another planet. I have filed a formal report against her because she shouldn't be offering her own opinions. for a supposed professional, her entire email was nasty and sneering.
all in all, incredibly useless company. but I will be happy to update my review with positives if they actually prove they can deliver from now on. We shall see...
