When we got to the OYO hotel it…
When we got to the OYO hotel it appeared to be in very bad shape, broken windows that were taped over and garbage, etc. nothing like on line photos. The manager came out and told us we needed to go online and cancel as the hot water pipes broke and there was no hot water. I did. It was a scary place. I have been trying ever since to get a refund but have been told I do not qualify. I have never ran into a business like this. My credit card company is trying to help me. I wish there was more ways to warn people. It’s horrible.
OYO BADLANDS - FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO STAY -
Prepaid for a discounted reservation at the Love Hotels at Badlands National Park at Kadoka SD. When I arrived, I was charged an extra $7, the discounted amount that was not waived for prepay. I then checked into my room only to find hair covering the bottom of the pillow cases. I asked for new bedding which they said they had none available, so I was offered another room. The second room was infested with flies, as in I had half a dozen flies crawling on my body within a few minutes of sitting down and turning on the tv. The front desk clerk said that was probably the case with all the rooms, so I checked out. The clerk gave me the number to call to request a refund.
I called that number 5 different times. Each time they documented my complaint, and I received a form mail stating a refund would not be issued. The last two of the five calls I spoke to a supervisor. When the first supervisor reviewed my complaint, I was told that I left because the AC didn't work. The second supervisor told me I left because the room wasn't clean. I asked to speak to someone above him, which he said there was no one above him that could handle a claim. I asked for callbacks and not form mails, but got form mails. I have since disputed the charges on my credit card. I never received nor is there a place on their website to leave a review. But make sure to read the reviews of this hotel before booking, and my suggestion would be to go elsewhere. Top to bottom the whole experience was extremely substandard.
If you’re thinking about booking…
If you’re thinking about booking through them DON’T from my personal experience. The hotel I booked looked nothing like the photos. I couldn’t stay there I was too frightened and the room I booked is not the room the hotel tried to give me.
The customer service was awful and they will blantantly lie to you. I was on the phone with them numerous trying to get a resolve. Finally, someone said, they will refund me but it will take a couple of weeks. Fast forward three weeks, I get an email stating, that can’t refund me due to company policy.
I’m grateful I paid through PayPal. I disputed the charges and after they did a thorough investigation I had a positive outcome.
Go through someone else if you have to book
3rd Party Booking Scammer
Deceptive third party booking company. Refused to refund over $750. I booked and canceled the same day, over 1 week out from check-in.
If you call, you will be routed to Asia.
I emailed screen shots proving cancellation and received an email that stated “we regret to inform you that the booking was marked as a cancelled Booking, and as per our cancellation and refund policy, we are unable to process a refund in this case.”
Unsafe Property, False Advertising, and Refused Refund — Avoid OYO
I booked a stay at the Ashland Studio Inn (Ashland, VA) through OYO, expecting the accommodations advertised on their app. What I actually found was shocking and unsafe.
The property had collapsing floors, visible bed bugs on the walls and bedding, mattresses discarded and stacked in stairwells, and filthy, stained linens. These conditions were not only unacceptable but posed serious health and safety risks to any guest staying there.
I immediately contacted OYO and provided photographs as evidence. Instead of addressing the misrepresentation, OYO refused to issue a refund and tried to dismiss the issue as a “cancellation policy matter.” This was not a cancellation — it was false advertising and a failure to provide the service I paid for in a safe manner.
I have since escalated the matter to the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division, and the Better Business Bureau.
Travelers deserve honesty and basic safety. Based on my experience, OYO cannot be trusted to deliver either. I strongly recommend avoiding OYO and booking through more reputable companies.
Cannot get my refund
Like many writing reviews, I had to cancel my reservation and although the booking process assured me that if I cancelled within the specified time the refund would be immediate, I have yet to get my money back. Trying to get someone on the phone who can resolve the issue appears to be impossible. Buyer beware of any hotels owned or operated by the organization.
Oyo customer service is awful
Oyo customer service is awful, they claim 48 hours to resolve your issue and it has now been since August 13th, 2025. They send a pitiful email every 4 days or so, saying the exact same thing. It doesn't take 3 weeks to process a refund. They now own Motel 6 and the sad part is Motel 6 Newport News, VA will not accept the reservations from Oyo's booking site SMH. The person at the front desk stated, Oyo is a scam and owes that particular location thousands of dollars. My reservation was canceled by the property and it was prepaid. I had to rebook with the motel directly, just to get a room. The customer service rep lied, by claiming to contact the front desk, but called central reservations. Oyo needs to get better at customer service. I would love to leave no star's
THIS MOTEL IS A COMPLETE SCAM
THIS MOTEL IS A COMPLETE SCAM!
On their website it states you will receive a complete refund if reservation is canceled before 9 AM day of booking. When I reached a representative they could not pull up my reservation with my confirmation number, my email, or my phone number. This was the case with three different representatives. Do not book with this motel! Complete scam.
Do NOT book with this hotel
Do NOT book with this hotel. We were checked into our room and they told us our room had been canceled and we needed to leave unless we rebooked the room. After calls with OYO corporate, tons of back/forth with no one knowing who cancelled the room, we were stuck. We had to rebook, bring promised a refund for the first pre-paid room. Even after supposed escalation, we were informed we would not be getting a refund. This hotel chain is a SCAM. Stay away.
Refund took over a month to process!!
Made reservation online through the app and showed up to the hotel 15 minutes late and was told they over-booked and I couldn’t check in… 30 days later and still no refund!!! Most shady business out there.
Motel we booked thru them cancelled our…
Motel we booked thru them cancelled our room and OYO has not returned our money, even though I have called them many times.Did the same to my sister in law for the same motel same weekend.
Fraudulent charges on my account
Fraudulent charges on my account. I booked through Expedia. They could not accommodate ADA mobility. Cancelled the room within the policy timeframe. They charged my card , denying refund. Will not respond, other than automated response of receiving email. Expedia will not step in to help. Werrys Cottages and OYO discriminate against people with disabilities. Stay away-
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BOOK
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT BOOK THROUGH THERE WEBSITE.
They over booked “there” hotels and won’t tell you that you don’t have a room until you show up. Then they will try and fight you tooth and nail to try and keep any money that you already gave them. If I could less then one star I would
Fotoshopped pictures
Tamil Nadu, July 2025: Fotoshopped pictures, rooms were all crap, dirty. We couldn't find most of the places as the hotel were looking completely different on booking websites.
Just one stay was ok as there were a lot of foreign tourists.
Do not ever book through OYO Hotels
I made an honest mistake in reserving a room for the incorrect day (I booked for Sunday night instead of Saturday night). I showed up to check in on Saturday and realized the error. I asked if there was any way to simply transfer the Sunday reservation to Saturday, as I needed the room and there was vacancy. In attempting to get in touch with OYO to resolve this, first it was nearly impossible to get in touch with anyone. The chat feature was awful and when I finally did speak to someone, all he did was reiterate the cancellation policy (which I was well aware of, even though I was not trying to cancel I was simply trying to modify after a long day of travel). When I asked to speak to a manager, he hung up on me. The hotel manager sent a case to OYO to confirm that I had checked in and paid for Saturday night and request that they please refund my money for the Sunday reservation, which I did not need. I got a generic email from the OYO escalation team the next day, simply reiterating the cancellation policy once again, and received no response when I requested additional consideration. So, I ended up paying almost $600 for a dumpy hotel room for one night. I guess OYO really needed my $220 for Sunday night to support their terrible operations and pay their rude, useless staff members. Way to go guys! Lost a customer forever!
Room had clearly been flooded
Room had clearly been flooded. Huge dents in the wall. Lots of mold. Chair in room was covered in cat hair. Radiator for heat was off the wall and laying on the floor. Parts of the ceiling was falling down. Literally hanging there. Previous tenants key was was still here.
a disreputable chain that should be avoided
I recently booked a room with a hotel for 6 nights so I could be near my father who is in the hospital. The booking website advertised this hotel as having non-smoking rooms and free wifi throughout. There was NO wifi available ANYWHERE in the hotel and my room reeked of smoke. I went to the manager who didn't speak any English. An assistant told me that because there were so many guests in the hotel, the wifi didn't work. I showed her my phone and asked her to point out the wifi and she couldn't find it saying that the wifi was not available. This was in the hotel lobby, check-in area. I told her that I absolutely needed wifi in order to be able to secure Uber car service, to order food, make reservations, etc and that if it couldn't be provided, I wanted a refund. She told me to call the booking agent. So I walked a mile to the hospital to use their wifi to call booking and was told that I would get a refund AND assistance in securing new accommodations. I then walked BACK to the hotel to get my luggage and then walked the one mile BACK to the hospital, carrying my suitcase in the sweltering heat. I checked my email and found a letter from the booking agent stating that their "partner" would contact me regarding he refund. I don't know nor do I understand what a partner is and I then had to book new accommodations on my own, paying top dollar at the last minute. I later called again (another 1 hour on the telephone) and then received an email stating that they would NOT be issuing me a refund. It's quite unbelievable and unacceptable. In summation, Oyo does NOT support their consumer customers. They should be ashamed of their policy and behavior (but they're not) and consequently, I am done being their customer. Caveat emptor when using this "service." They threw me to the wolves and I lost almost $ 400 on this fiasco. Follow up my credit card provider intervened and adjudicated on my behalf. I had contaced Oyo cusomer service but they never replied. Avoid this hotel chain like the plague.
STAY AWAY
DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT STAYING THERE. The place will steal your money and refuse to put it back on your card!!! I got a room there at around 2:20 and got charged an extra $20 for wanting to check in $40 minutes early. But that's nothing. I went to the room, dropped off a few things and left. I get back later that night and get a notice on the door that was dropped off at 4:30pm claiming someone was smoking in there. First it was only me there no one else, second I don't smoke, vape, or do anythingike that. But the worse part is no one was even there during that time. And they said that they won't reverse the charges. As soon as I returned I seen the notice and went directly down to talk to someone to let them know no one was in the room. I said for someone to go on the floor I was on and the whole floor smelled like cigarettes. They refused. I said to look at their cameras and see that I wasn't in the room, no one was. They still refused and claimed someone must have since the alarm went off. They charged me an additional $500!!! For no one even being in the room.
They're rude, dirty, and just a nasty place. You never even hear anyone winning any money at that place. I live in Las Vegas and stay in hotelsonce in awhile and never seen such a place. I don't know how they keep their doors open. Probably from ripping people off I'm sure. I'll have to call my bank now and have it canceled. But if you're smart, saving a few dollars to stay there isn't worth it. You're going to end up paying so much more in the end. And you don't even have to be there.
I cancelled my reservation June 19th…
I cancelled my reservation June 19th for a July 1 reservation. I was within the full cancellation window and received an email stating I would receive a refund of $408.. It is July 3 and I haven't received the refund.. I reached out by email and was told they would get back to me. No response. I reached out by phone and was told they would respond soon. No response. I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated
STAY AWAY, they take your money for a place you can't stay at!
I arrived to the Hotel that I had booked and found it not operational. In fact the manager happened to be there and told me that they were not taking any guest or reservations. I called and emailed OYO with my information and they then try to call the Hotel and get no answer. They then tell me that my issue has been elevated, and I should get response within 48 hours. I have called multiple times and still haven't gotten any feedback nor my money back.
