1 star
1 star — 25 apps submitted. All 25 rejected. Then rejected again. And again.
I'm on the Builder annual plan. $400 invested. Built 25 fully functional templates — client portals, CRMs, invoicing tools, habit trackers, recipe apps, and more.
Every single listing was rejected. Not some. All 25.
The rejection cycle is designed to exhaust you. You submit, wait 3-4 days, get rejected for one thing. Fix it, resubmit, wait another 3-4 days, rejected for something completely different. Fix that, resubmit, wait again, rejected for yet another reason that wasn't flagged the first or second time. They never tell you everything wrong at once. It's always one new reason per cycle, each one costing you days. After multiple rounds, zero apps live. Zero out of twenty-five. At some point you have to ask whether the review process is designed to help you publish or designed to make sure you never do.
The security scanner contradicts the builder. I asked the AI to add Row-Level Security. It confirmed RLS was applied to all entities. I ran the security scan. Four critical issues — RLS missing on every entity. I prompted it again. Same response: "Everything is already in place, no changes needed." The scanner still fails. The Fix All button in the security panel doesn't work either. The builder and the scanner are checking two different things, and there's no way to resolve it.
Screenshot rejections reference their own UI. I was rejected for including "browser frame or desktop background" in screenshots. Their own listing preview wraps every app in their editor toolbar — the exact chrome they told me to remove.
The marketplace can't process payments. A banner on the App Listing page says "Payouts will be available in a few weeks." They're enforcing strict review criteria for a storefront that cannot pay sellers.
RLS doesn't work through prompts. I attempted role-based access for a client portal. The builder confirmed it was implemented. Logged in as a test user — full access to all data, no filtering. The platform cannot enforce row-level security through its own builder.
I'm a technical user with IT systems management background. If I can't get these resolved after multiple rounds across weeks, the average user has no chance. 0 for 25 tells you everything you need to know.
Absolute worst way to make a website
So bad. Huge limitations, You have to task an ai bot to do 50% and it barely works. You can't manually make changes to anything thats not text related. Worst way to make a website ever.

I keep running in circles with the AI…
I keep running in circles with the AI Agent, and when I ask someone to fix, even if the AI Agent burnt all the credits trying to fix something that couldn't be fixed, the Support team instaead helping fixing the issue, giving prompts even though I had no credits left and refused to refund the credits, saying AI can make mistakes, we are awre of that, what I wasn't expected was AI making the error worse and not fixing anyhting. The Support team should be there to fix the issue that the AI Agent should fix, not giving more prompts to waste credits again. I don't recommend it at all.

THE ASSISTANTS OWN RESPONSE
THE ASSISTANTS OWN RESPONSE: Status update on what we've found.
Our team confirmed the looping and work-loss pattern you described is on our side. On a 218-file app like yours with the long conversation history, the AI's context compaction was firing too often and that's what can cause the AI to "forget" completed work between turns. I'm escalating this to the development team for further review.
There's one thing you can do right now that should help a lot in the meantime. Your AI Model is set to Gemini 3.1 Pro. We have a known bug about Gemini struggling on apps your size — and the symptoms in that bug match yours exactly. Switching to Sonnet or Automatic typically resolves the looping pattern on large apps.
Eats up my credits :(
Ok so it was good at the start with awesome generation. It did exactly what I wanted but... it got basic instructions wrong and completely wasted all the credits. Its definitely not good and will make you mad. Thanks.

Sucks you in and rips you off
I have four apps on the go here, it seems great when you start... but i'm now convinced it's pre programmed to constantly not fix what you ask it too, so you burn through credits while it infinitly get basics wrong time after time, annoyingly the AI accepts from time to time that it's made a mistake or not carried out the task correctly.... but do you get your credits back? You know you don't!
I did get an email from a person when I raised this serious issue and they fobbed my off with 20 credits, nowhere near what the constant mistakes it makes cost me.
This app would be brilliant with a rethink of the Ai and the credit system, it would also be better if it were bought out and a team of people whom actually care were put in place.

This app cause a major crash down with my laptop because it conflict with microsoft office suite 2019. I simply can't use it. Thankfully I had a full back up of my laptop data.
go away from it. They used agressive commercials to promote a defective app.
such a waste of money and time.
Worst of worst
Worst of worst. Bought starter plan when I was about to connect says now I have to upgrade to premium then when I have upgraded then I must buy premium plus ? Whaaaat ?

They build webapps not React Native apps, which is what you will need for the app store, if you ask for a refund even if you dont use the service or after you cancel they will refuse, stay well away from here, you're better off using another app or hiring a freelancer. Its absolutely useless, it looks nice, but claude code can do the same and much better for half the price.

Great customer service
I am really enjoying bringing both my game and my website ideas to life with base44. I had a small problem implementing something into my game which was just me not giving the correct commands to the ai to implement it properly and when I contacted customer support, they couldn't do enough to help. They stayed in contact with me for a while, looking through my code and helping me sort it out and it turned out amazing. They were even kind enough to refund me credits lost in the process. I couldn't recommend base44 enough just on how great the customer service were.

1/2 -Star Review: Predatory Architecture & False Marketing
Overall, I am thoroughly displeased with how this website builder is built and performing. The finished product is good, which is the only reason I gave it a star, but unfortunately, it has far too many "bad apples."
* It is a blatant money farm: The platform is engineered to trap you into spending money. They lock basic manual editing tools, forcing you to use their AI just to change simple elements. This intentionally bleeds your daily credits dry. To make it worse, their system overcharges 1/2 credit per prompt instead of the documented 1/3 credit rate. Once you are drained, you hit a paywall.
* Deliberate free-tier throttling: The creator preview works fine, but the second you click "Publish," the live link takes 10+ minutes to load. When raised, their AI chatbot gives the ridiculous advice to keep your device running idle for 10 minutes to "warm up" the app. This is a fake workaround meant to frustrate you into paying for an upgrade. The moment I aggressively escalated the issue to their support team, the link magically started working instantly. They choose to throttle free users until threatened.
* Terrible user experience constraints: They do not allow direct image uploads. You have to waste time hosting your images elsewhere just to get a URL to paste. Furthermore, their support chat limits your messages to a petty 500 characters while their team sends lengthy scripts, intentionally gagging you from explaining your issues.
I built an app on a tight timeline as a birthday present for my brother, and this platform's predatory design choices almost ruined it. Do not fall for their ads. Most people want honesty over marketing. Look for alternatives—I will not be making a return visit.
edit: After I exposed their predatory credit traps, forced AI requirements, and artificial server throttling to their support team, they went completely silent and refused to reply. They know their system is broken and they have no defense. Absolute cowards. Lowering rating to 1/2 a star.

Professional Support and a Powerful Development PlatformI am currently developing an advanced…
I am currently developing an advanced building management system, and I have found Base44 to be an excellent environment for complex projects. The platform offers the flexibility I need to create sophisticated tools for both personal and commercial use.
I recently had a very positive experience with the customer care team regarding a subscription adjustment. They handled the process quickly, professionally, and with great integrity..
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a reliable and flexible development platform.

I’ve found extremely helpful as someone…
I’ve found extremely helpful as someone with only basic coding experience. The platform has allowed me to build and experiment with ideas that I would probably never have attempted through traditional coding alone.
What I appreciate most is how quickly I can turn ideas into prototypes. Features, layouts, workflows, and integrations that would normally take me a very long time can now be created through prompts. It has genuinely helped me learn and become more confident in app development.
However, one major challenge I’ve experienced is with the credit system. Credits deplete very quickly, especially when the AI does not fully understand what is being prompted. In many situations, I have had to repeat, rephrase, or simplify instructions multiple times before getting close to the intended result, and each attempt consumes additional credits.
I have personally spent a significant amount of money purchasing credits, but so far I still have not managed to build something meaningfully complete and fully working. I want to make it clear that this is not because the platform is incapable — the platform itself is very powerful and has huge potential. The bigger issue is that I am not a full-time developer, and sometimes I may struggle to structure prompts in the best possible way. At the same time, the AI may also misunderstand context or instructions, which creates a cycle of repeated corrections and additional credit usage.
This can become frustrating because a lot of credits end up being spent on trial-and-error interactions rather than actual progress. Sometimes the AI partially follows instructions or unexpectedly changes things that were already working, making it necessary to spend even more credits fixing previous outputs.
I believe the experience could improve significantly with:
- Better prompt understanding and consistency
- Stronger context retention across projects
- Partial credit refunds for clearly inaccurate generations
- A lower-cost testing or sandbox mode for experimentation
- Better debugging assistance and explanations when something fails
Overall, I still believe Base44 is one of the most promising AI app builders available today. It has opened doors for people like me who are not advanced developers but still want to create real applications. With improvements to prompt accuracy and a fairer credit experience, I believe the platform could become even more powerful and accessible.
Base44 has been a great platform for…
Base44 has been a great platform for building my app idea quickly and professionally. The AI tools make development much faster, especially for UI design and testing new features.
What impressed me most was their support team. When I experienced issues with my project structure and credit usage, the support team responded professionally, explained everything clearly, helped me restore my project using Version History, and even added bonus credits so I could continue working on my app.
The platform still has some things to improve, especially on mobile preview and large project stability, but overall the experience has been very positive. It’s a powerful platform for creators, startups, and people building MVP apps without a full development team.
I’m excited to continue building my SPICEY app with Base44.

The AI super-agent hallucinates unlike anything I've ever seen. It will consume credits every chance it gets forcing you to spend more or kick rocks. I used the app for a few hours one evening and I had already went through $50 in app credits.... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? Simple requests to fix apps just dont get processed by the super agent. Somehow changing the color of the background the super agent changed the entire design of a website, forcing me to lose hours of work. Not to mention it had no way of getting it back to its previous state based on its replies. This Agent is terrible and expensive. STAY FAR AWAY. Support seems useless.... Next step is for me to dispute the charges with the bank. They misrepresented the capabilities of the app, and its intelligence.

Sick to my stomach, charged me for an entire year up front and wouldn't let me back out
The AI never actually gets you all the way to a usable App, just "almost".. in one situation it kept changing the same two variables over and over, leading the development in a circle.
WORST PART: I went to upgrade my "monthly" plan because I absolutely need the app I am building.... it charged me for a YEAR. I asked it to downgrade my plan back to what it was and it said it could do it at the END OF THE BILLING CYCLE, i.e. AFTER A YEAR. It cut off access to all the functionality, even though I already had the lower subscription. I could not find a way to undo the change, and there is no live support or anything. This site is effing awful, but it's pretty much par for AI.

Broken core systems, restricted access, wasted credits, and unacceptable support limitations
Review:
My experience with Base44 has been extremely poor and frustrating.
The platform repeatedly consumed credits while core app systems were either broken, removed, disconnected, or left unfinished. Major functionality that previously existed in the app stopped working correctly, including creator/profile systems, posting functionality, feed playback, and account integration.
The most serious issues I experienced included:
*all app iss nott working mess liesss manipulation.
* Missing or broken creator attribution/profile links
* Profile editing and creator tools disappearing or becoming inaccessible
* Posting/upload systems not functioning correctly
* Admin access/authentication restrictions preventing proper control of the app
* Repeated changes to systems without clear visibility into what was modified
One of the biggest problems was support quality. Responses often focused on “logs showing no errors” while visible frontend functionality was clearly broken inside the live app experience. It felt like the actual user-facing problems were not being properly audited.
The support limitations made the situation significantly worse. Escalation to a real human technical review was difficult, and communication throughput was extremely limited while credits continued being consumed.
I also found the AI build/edit process unreliable for maintaining stable production systems. Changes frequently appeared disconnected from the requested fixes, and there was poor visibility into what files or systems were actually being altered.
At this point I have requested:
* Supervisor escalation
* Refund review
* Full application export/migration assistance
I would strongly advise people building serious production apps to be extremely cautious, especially if your project depends on stable creator systems, authentication, feed logic, or complex interconnected functionality.
