WellCare is no Care for its customers.

I'll start off by saying, If I could change my insurance at this point I would! My reasoning has to do with customer service (WellCare). I have contacted customer service over the past couple of years regarding my PCP.
insurance
I've been a member of WellCare, I believe since 2020, when I initially signed up for WellCare, I input my PCP as the one I had prior to my retirement to Medicare through SSA. I've spoken with a supervisor in customer service over the past couple of years trying to correct the person which they (WellCare) have on my insurance card. The last time I spoke to customer service supervisor, she stated after some time on the phone about an hour, that she had finally gotten everything straightened out and that I would be receiving updated ID cards shortly. That had to have been over three (3) months ago and my account is still showing the same WRONG PCP and still no updated ID cards. The last time I spoke with this supervisor was during the last open enrollment period last year in October 2025. WellCare has access to my commutations with this so-called supervisor to validate our conversation if needed. If I'm in need of my PCP for any emergency, they would not know who to get a hold of, this is unacceptable and I will be updating my coverage with someone else next enrollment period. "No professionalism at all", WellCare is no Care for its customers.

This Medicare provider company doesn't care about their customers…

This Medicare provider company doesn't care at all about it's customers unless they are able to convince customers to get numerous unnecessary invasive medical procedures that they try to force on them. Customer service representatives say that they are going to help, but never get anything accomplished on their end. They leave customers in limbo for weeks at a time and all you will ever get when they know they're in the wrong is a very simply written letter of apology that does absolutely nothing to resolve any issues. They cannot be trusted. Their word means nothing when it's totally fake and they never try to resolve any issues in a timely manner. I've called them over half a dozen times to get my issue resolved and nothing ever gets resolved. They are useless!!!

I've been trying for over 2 weeks and…

I've been trying for over 2 weeks and have spoken with 5 different people to help me get my online access to my Wellcare.com account and Spendables account. When we finally tried to place a Spendables order with a representative, they didn't even have the over-the-counter medical supply items I needed, so I'm going to have to find a way to pay for them myself with all that money in the Spendables account that I can't even access. The Spendables account is the only reason I signed up for Wellcare in the first place and can't access it. And although, it has been corrected, they even initially assigned a PCP 100's miles away. The IT "ticket" could take 2 weeks to be filled. I tried to get an IT ticket 2 weeks ago, and the rep didn't fill in all the information correctly, so now it will end up being a month total before the online access problem is solved. Wellcare also inundates with sales calls so frequently that it's almost harassment. While I'm stuck with Wellcare for now, I wouldn't recommend them. The last person I spoke to did not care. I'll just throw that one in, but the others were very nice, but simply couldn't fix my problem.

Hardly any doctors take Wellcare Simple HMO

I really like their Wellcare Medicare Part D so I signed up for Wellcare HMO Simple, it had tons of perks. However when I looked for doctors and chiropracters near me there were very few to choose from and far away from me. I quickly tried to cancel it but it takes a month to get back to Medicare Classic who has tons of choices.

So glad I visited Trust Pilot today ro read reviews on WellCare. I was signed up for their RX plan and received a payment coupon book yesterday. Since I haven't talen a prescription drug in 38 years as I am into holistic medicine and since I now have VA Rx I decided to cancel. What a freaking ordeal which almost seems illegal. You don't have to "explain" to anybody why you want to cancel an insurance plan or answer any questions for them. These people need reined in, They are totally out of line.

Terrible customer service

I should have read the reviews before signing up with this terrible Company. I don't know how they remain in business. Terrible customer service. They don't deserve even one star. I don't recommend this outfit. Agents don't have a clue what they are doing either. I filed a grievance against them today.

Web site is worthless

I am trying to pay my premium online and I got a blank page called "Entry Key Callback." This is in four different browsers (Brave, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge). How am I supposed to use a totally blank web page to do anything???

Their contact page also is worthless. I took a lot of time to fill in all the information they asked for and got this trash; "There was an error, try again."

I'm new this year, and chagrined about it after reading these reviews. My experience so far: tried to sign up for the portal, entered my email, but then there is no way to complete registration. Tried to write to "Technical Support" and after completing a lengthy form, click submit and get: "Something went wrong. Please try again." Endlessly.

Impossible to solve a problem with Medicare Part D drug plan

Enrolled in Medicare Part D drug plan
After hours speaking to different representatives they are unable to solve my problem. Simply put the claims section on their website and their EOB's show that I met my deductible. Randomly they decided I didn't meet my deductible and started charging me full price for drugs towards the end of the year. No one can solve this problem. The reps can barely speak English and I think their comprehension is at an even lower level.

I couldn't access my online healthcare plan

I couldn't access my online healthcare plan, and despite several calls to customer service, the issue still isn't resolved. They filled out 2 complaint "tickets' to supposedly get someone to call and help me, but no one called. She said it could be 2 weeks more before they get back to me. Their excuse is this is the first year Wellcare covers my state. But they knew Iowa plan service started on Jan 1. They are giving bad service, and on their own time table.

Intrusive and annoying

My claims were paid during the 2 years they insured me, but what drove me crazy up until the last day of coverage (today) were the countless spam calls from the company. They kept trying to get medical information from me, tried several times to schedule an in-home visit with me, and even hounded my doctor with emails telling her which tests they thought I should have. Intrusive, annoying and unprofessional, no respect for the people they insure. I told them many times not to call me, but they kept on.

Honestly

Honestly - it’s amazing that this company is still in business if their overall operation is as poor as their customer service. We never checked the reviews before applying based upon price. I was approved immediately but my wife was rejected due to missing information in her application - Medicare no., DOB, address … sure, pure BS. She then phoned the info in to a rep a week before a date they set … and they had the recorded conversation. But he never entered it, so 2 weeks later they rejected her application. While they admitted it was their mistake,, they would not correct the application. Although one rep filed an expedited grievance report on our behalf, it went nowhere. Most of the staff were located in the Philippines and difficult to understand, but they tried. I laughed when I read below how they transferred calls and used “hold”. I just can’t understand their poor training and business practices … they should be bankrupt by now.

Scam

Every year someone cancels my health insurance and puts me in Wellcare and regular Medicare, I went to a Drs appointment to find out my health insurance was cancelled, I contacted Wellcare who blatantly lied and said it was Social Security, who switched me, called Medicare who is very tight lipped. This won't end well.

Absolutely useless “customer service…

Absolutely useless “customer service staff”. All they do in defense of denials for name brand drugs is put you on hold several times during the call to READ off pages they find to “explain” their position. WellCare also LOVES to change what they cover during the year you are stuck with them because they KNOW there is no recourse for customers. They ignore coverage for BRAND drugs on doctor's order (written no less) even though you have done as they require and tried the generic version with disastrous results. They THEN claim you “need to try at least 2 generic versions”, even if there is only ONE available and you’ve tried it!!!! Where does this leave customers who simply need the BRAND drugs they have been using successfully for years (including the entire year presently in, then they CHANGE THE RULES). Quite simply deceitful liars!!! Our government needs to do something about this very common insurance practice.

72 hours pre-auth rule is ridiculous.

Apparently an end of life medication I need for comfort requires pre-authorization. It's 72 hours, doctor wrote for expedited service. They ignore that, 72 hours, period. I tried calling, explaining end of life pain med needed and could they please expedite. No. They won't.
Also, very difficult to understand representative.
Had I known this was coming, I would have found a different plan but might be stuck with these fools.
