Level 1 lesson with Alan
I went to the Hemel snow centre yesterday full of nerves and not knowing what to expect from my first ever ski lesson however every single member of staff were both friendly and approachable. This extended further to my groups instructor Alan, whos approach to teaching ensured we were stress free once we hit the slope. Alan was perfect at getting us to be confident and get out of our comfort zones whilst always being close to support if needed (literally). The 2 hour lesson also came with a drink and catch up at then end which was lovely, and Alan was even able to give specific notes for improvement for everyone. Cant wait to book my level 2!
Visit to Hemel Hempstead snow centre
We visited the Hemel Hempstead snow centre and had an incredible experience. The facility was top-notch, with well-maintained slopes and excellent amenities. What truly made our visit exceptional was the coaching we received from Nick Ashman. His expertise and guidance significantly improved our skiing technique. Nick's personalised approach and insightful feedback were invaluable. We highly recommend the Hemel Hempstead snow centre, especially for those looking to enhance their skills with the exceptional coaching provided by Nick Ashman.
Kind Regards
Russell, Stacy, James and Olivia.
The online booking system leaves much…
The online booking system leaves much to be desired. Despite its current state, it has the potential to be efficient and user-friendly. I recently booked two beginner classes for my children, only to be informed that they had already completed the course. The next available class, however, was not for another five weeks.
In the event of any issues, they offer vouchers as a form of compensation.
One major concern is the overcrowding in the classes. The children spend more time queuing in the snow than actually learning. My son’s group, for instance, had over 20 children. This is not only overwhelming for the children but also poor value for money.
Great instructor - Dean C
I booked a improvers day which was around 5 hours long. Dean C was a great instructor and really patient despite me being super terrified of going down the main slope. He was very encouraging and explained things really well and by the end of the session I felt a lot more confident.
Many thanks to Josh
Having just started skiing last year with work and having enjoyed it so much, me and my wife booked a holiday to La Rosière for January 2024. Needing to get our Ski legs back, the wife more than me having not ski'd for 6 years, she was apprehensive to go back on the slopes but threoretically met the start standard to go on the main slope. Having raised her concern to the staff, they couldnt have been more helpful.
We made them aware of the issue and said we would pay for a lesson but they arranged one of the staff to take her on the nursery slope to assess her technique, gave her a few pointers and took her onto the main slope. After one run they were happy to let her on her way with no need for the lesson and provided free of charge.
Josh was the one who assessed her but there was also the guy at the equipment area and one of hte girls on the snow patrol team that helped out, thank you to you all.
Place is brilliant for what it is, free parking, free use of lockers, changing facilities and super freindly staff. Food in the restaurant was superb, we will be back.
The Snow & Rock shop within the facility is by far and away the most stocked i have seen and with the most services on offer.
I have been visiting the snow centre…
I have been visiting the snow centre for a while now as I am learning to snowboard.
The ladies on reception are always so lovely, friendly, polite, chatty.
On my most recent visit I had a private lesson with Sean and he was fantastic! Explained things so well to me and was super patient with me. I am looking to book another private with him and was so beneficial. Thank you Sean.
Must do!
Amazing snowboarding/ringo slide session with Lewis, Mitchell, Corey and Kayne. Definitely made the first time on the slope a memorable one! Great team and fantastic enthusiasm 😊
Excellent Instructor Mitchell Docherty…
Excellent Instructor Mitchell Docherty was funny and patient. Made us feel comfortable was in the end me the group and i feel more confident.
Amazing customer service went the extra mile
Went to the front desk to ask if there was any snowboarding lesson available. Knowing fully that there was none. The desk staff (Sarah & Gail) went above, and beyond and contacted one the instructor to see if they can provide me lesson there and then. So knowing there was no lesson that day. Then to having one was amazing surprise thanks to the staff amazing customer service and Tony the instructor for the lesson.
not all vouchers are equal.
During a ski session on the main slope i was knocked flying. By a person who should not have been on the main slope. as he had no experience. i had to come off the main slope, But staff did not even respond. luckily the guy hit me and not the kids infront.
I was reimbursed my money after i reported this in the form of a voucher. which i have since discovered that purchased vouchers are valid for 1 year.. but issued vouchers are only valid for 6 months.
So if you pay with a voucher and decide that you want to change the date.. you loose 6 months straight away, as its then classed as a different voucher.
in my case i lost £80, due to someone that should not have been on the main slope ( health and safety issue)
then being issued with a voucher that lasts 6 months.
rather than the standard 1 year,
i have contacted the snow centre and this is their stance.
Trustworthy, Fun and Friendly
The Snow Centre is such a welcoming place whether you are a single person looking for something different or a family wanting an activity you can all partake in together.
You don’t need to be a skier or boarder, and it’s the ideal place for your first time on real snow. The thing that strikes you is that everyone there is friendly, from the reception team to the bar staff and the instructors. It’s easy to get to reach by car, being right by the M1 and there is ample on-site free parking.
I initially visited TSC with my children post-lockdown after being confined to our home for such a long period of time I wanted to treat them. It soon became apparent that this was an activity that we all loved. For me, it has helped immeasurably with my mental health, and for my children, it’s an outlet where they can have fun and at the same time get exercise.
With the monthly lift passes it means that you have a set fee and can use the facilities in an almost unlimited capacity. In the cost of living crises, that is a rarity and very welcome.
So much fun and great experience
Today I had a 2 hour beginners lesson with Alan.
Had an amazing experience, it was so much fun and I will definitely continue with more lessons.
Alan so so patient with me and all the students in the group. He made it fun but also teaching you in such a good way.
Highly recommended. Thanks Alan for making it such a good first experience.
Great experience - Great staff
Had an amazing time. I hadnt boarded for 20 years and booked on to a level 4 course. Bit nervous but all staff were fantastic!! Lamar was a great instructor and slopes were clear. Group size was 4 people so good ratios. Hire kit was included and was of good quality. Cant ask for a better experience :)
Mis-leading group sizes
Booked a 2-hour session in a small group of up to 6 people for my son (Absolute beginner). When we arrived his name was on the screen with a group of 5 people (great so far). The name of the teacher was not the person he was eventually with. Eventually they combined the groups and it was a group of 17 pupils shared among three instructors. So when it came to taking turns to ski, they had to wait for 16 (rather than 4-5 ) people in front each time. Therefore the experience was limited. Instructor did not check my son's equipment to ensure it was on properly, despite being asked.
My son just finished the level 2 lesson…
My son just finished the level 2 lesson today. Very impressed! The instructor Miss Nicole B. was very patient and thorough. We would definitely recommend her!
Great Instructors
I now have my confidence and love for snowboarding back thanks to the instructors at the snow centre.
Having learnt many years ago and then suffering a confidence set back I opted for some lessons which was the best idea.
My first lesson was with Nick L who really helped get my confidence back and offer advice in a supportive and friendly way. By the end of the lesson I was back to loving boarding and hoped some of my next lessons would be with Nick again.
My next lesson was with Reece and again I had a great lesson and could see just how far I was progressing even in 2 hours. I was able to start gaining confidence on the main slope and was grateful for the instruction and patience when it came to the button lift which was my fear. Also hearing about working in Canada and getting some great advice as I look for a move there was very helpful.
My latest lesson was with Graham H and by the end I felt confident on the button lift and the main slope and now able to now get some practice in on my own. I had a great lesson with Graham. I’m now looking forward to my first boarding holiday and appreciated been show how to use a ski lift and hearing about the resort we have picked.
I would definitely recommend the snow centre. The snow quality is much better to other indoor places I have been and I have found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The restaurant offering gluten free meals is great as well.
Smooth Lesson
Had a snowboard lesson from Mark today.
Nice teaching; decent venue.
🏂.
Excellent Teaching and Facilities
Did an all day boarding lesson with Sam L who was absolutely phenomenal in his approach. He knows his skill very well and is able to share that in a incredibly calm and relaxed way. There's people twice his age who can't teach and establish the personal connection in the way that he did and it should be applauded. I'd recommend anybody booking a lesson asks for Sam L. personally.
The snow was as good as it always has been and the bar was like it was opened yesterday with it's presentation - it could just do with some charging ports for phone and laptops especially the tables that look out over the slope... Small detail!
Perfect beginner experience .
Had an amazing time at The Snow Centre in a beginners class with 5 others. The session was led by Sam L, who was an excellent teacher, patient, calm and very encouraging.
The facilities are top notch and the lunch/drinks included in the package exceeded expectations.
I’ll definitely book another session with Sam.
Highly recommend both Rebecca and Sam Lewis for ski instructing
Both a private lesson with Rebecca and a group lesson with Sam Lewis helped me reach up to a level 4 within 3 hours of ever skiing!
Before both of these sessions I had never skied before and now I feel so much more confident that I have got the basics and will be able to do Green and Blue runs when I go on my first ski trip.
Both instructors are so lovely and calmed my nerves immediately and made the experience so enjoyable, so I highly recommend both instructors to anyone at any stage who wants someone to calm their nerves and make skiing fun!
