Avoid these letting agents, we have been treated extremely unfairly. Let me just start by saying we have never missed a single payment and have been great tenants. We had many issues from their end throughout our tenancy, including being without a boiler for a month. We got to the end of our tenancy and they have tried to charge us with 1. Cleaning fee - we left the place cleaner than when we arrived (mould, dust, grease on top of cupboards and more) and spent 2 days cleaning it, it was sparkling when we left. 2. Blinds - when we moved in out of the 4 windows there was 1 window with a broken, grimey blind that didn't work and they have tried charging us for fitting all new blinds throughout. Also for marks/scrapes in the wall which was just wear and tear and nothing too bad. We accepted the marks/scrapes and rejected the other charges, we had back and forths with them rejecting our counter within 15 minutes which shows they didn't even look at it. They finally caved as we had evidence etc, we had an email come through saying they've accepted our counter and to pay £110. 2 hours later we get another email saying they've passed it onto debt collection agency... 2 HOURS after receiving the accepted offer. Ridiculous, money hungry company which cater to the landlords and treat tenants disgustingly. Avoid.

Terrible communication. I went weeks without a reply to many emails (along with an automated response ensuring my email had been received). During a major leak agent were very hard to reach and I ended up having to takeover communication with the building maintenance service after Romans stopped responding. My flat was left with no ventilation for 6 months and they disputed whether the broken extracts were really extractors.

We have sadly only had negative experiences with Romans so far after our landlord changed over companies to manage the property we have been happily renting for the last 4 years.
At the start of the transition period, we were introduced to Ben Chapman as our new property manager. Ben had followed up to say that he would not be taking on our property after all but a colleague of his would be in touch soon. We understood the need to manage workloads so were happy to be introduced to our new property manager as our contact point moving forward. Sadly, no-one reached out to us, and us calling Romans never managed to get us through to a person, and we didn't receive call backs after leaving voicemails, so struggled to get in touch with anyone to even know where to send rent payments to. Worried we were going to be paying rent late due to the miscommunications I had to send multiple messages/voicemails until we finally had a call back from someone who again was not our property manager but could send us the payment information, the working day before the rent payment was due. We were able to set up our payments and ensure rent was paid without further issue.
We have since had issues with our property where a bedroom window blew in from a stress fracture, knocking glass into our room and compromising the double glazing, and our electric shower cutting out due to what we believe is a fault in the wiring. Again, we tried reaching out to Ben to learn who our property manager is, and still do not have a contact of who is as our emails have been ignored except for automated responses to say our message has been received.
The issues portal is a very easy to use feature and I made sure to log our issues with as much detail as I could the moment they occurred, however it is a week in and we have not heard any updates.
I am hoping that they can turn around this terrible experience so far with improving their communication and levels of human interaction. Even small things like acknowledging and email has been received or having a call back to say that they are working on our issues with the landlord would be useful and help us feel valued. We are currently both literally and figuratively left in the cold.
I can’t speak highly enough of Romans Clifton Branch. Any issues are dealt with promptly along with a certain charm & engagement. Alisha is my property manager she is a Gold medalist. In her absence I dealt with Habiba, another gold medalist. Both women are a pleasure to deal with and I have met neither!
