Unbelievable Opera failures
Unbelievable Opera team attitude towards its customers: they autoupdate without letting you control the feature, they auto-install versions that are not supprted by the OS you are using, they've broken their Synch feature as there's a 404 page when I click Sign In in Synch section in Settings. Now I can't log in to my account as it only suggests to create the new one with my registered earlier email. Can't believe such rubbish software exists in 2025.
MacOS: Big Sure, Opera Version: 85.0.4341.75.
Went downhill since using Chromium.
Their product went downhill since they switched to Chromium. I've used Opera for many years and enjoyed the old Opera browser, but with the new browser, the features are so basic that it never got to be my main browser. I just kept it to test certain programs.
Today they completely broke their product: they updated their browser withouth any notification that this new version would not work on one of my outdated OS. So now when I try to launch Opera, I get a message that I cannot launch Opera (and I cannot update the OS on this device because of certain programs, otherwise I would have done so).
Ditching Opera completely from now on.
Worst browser ever
Worst browser ever, shitty updates, taking too much RAM, and much more, never downloading opera again.
This review is only of the Desktop…
This review is only of the Desktop version.
Having, used Chrome, Firefox and Brave (all on Windows) this is by far the best and most convenient browser with many features absent (free VPN (!), good tab management, workspaces, some services - ChatGPT, Spotifu etc conveniently available on one click in a popup saving you switching tabs etc etc) from any of the competitors.
Since it's based on Chromium you can also use any of the millions of Chrome plugins as normal.
I've been using it for 3 months now and at this point it's strange to me that it's not far more widely used.
The desktop version is simply far better than any of the most popular browsers for Windows.
In fact I can even imagine the developers having the naïve idea that if they just build a great product people will come to. It's depressing the in today's world that clearly is not true and everyone keeps using clearly, objectively inferior Chrome etc. and the reviews here have an average of 2.4 for some reason (bot reviews paid by Google or someone - no idea - it's strange)
Opera browser used to be the best
Opera browser used to be the best, it was lightweight which is what made it great and popular with those in the know. Now it is somewhat of a hog and they add gimmicks.
Unfortunately lately when there's an update, it just stalls when opening and that is whether it is an Opera update or Windows update. It is still my most used browser over Chrome but that is because Chrome is worse . I never liked Firefox much either , it always was clunky and slow.
Opera is still the fastest for my uses but I don't game much . I use it for emailing, sports watching, blogs and youtube, and shopping primarily so I don't need orwant bells and whistles. I want clean, fast and lightweight.
I also want a visible feedback button and not the antiquated forum concept but I get it. Its not a company with resources.
everytime i try to pirate a fudging…
everytime i try to pirate a fudging movie opera gx ads come up like excuse me when the flip did i flipping ask for your bad internet browser go kys
The most useful UI, Terrible support
Opera has one of the most intuitive and elegant UIs among browsers, but its support for developers is extremely disappointing.
If you check the forum thread titled “Very Long Extension Moderation Process,” you’ll see that this issue has persisted for nearly nine years without any real progress.
What’s more alarming is that many users have reported losing all their synced data — bookmarks, passwords, and years of usage simply vanished — with no proper recovery or explanation from Opera.
No clear communication, no transparency — just silence. That’s not how a modern software company should treat its community.
Best browser for safe browsing in ads and spamming contain website
I think opera browser is more safe than google chrome, I am using it for my daily web browsing activity, and visit different website which contain too much ads, so I am using opera in built ad blocker which is very good and by using ad blocker I am not see any ads and safe my browsing. Its in built VPN system is also amazing, for visit the website of other region, nut required to download or add external VPN just click on one option and VPN is on, I loved using opera browser and suggest other using it for safe browsing,
Not bad, pretty good
Not bad.
Just please stop adding shortcuts on the main page to games and shops I've never visited or used.
Also, now and then the whole session gets lost and the tabs cannot be restored - like in other browsers.
Thank you for the free VPN though.
And some other features that are not found in other famous browsers.
Brilliant
Brilliant. Very smooth and the sync works great between PC, phone and tablet. The free VPN is just awesome and the adblock is great.
chrome is better
downloaded it
was enjoying
playing krunker
suddenly the website glitched out
i see "tab snoozed"
then i opened control center
then deleted that trash
then went back to chrome
Beware of VPN
I've uninstalled Opera because of not providing warnings that a VPN - strongly promoted as a good thing to have - can lead to services such as BBC iPlayer, PSBs, various government websites etc. - not being accessible as they do not believe they are dealing with a UK resident. I realise that the VPN is optional but some may not be aware of the consequences and should be told.
Works well
I've been using Opera both on my laptop with Windows and on my smartphone with Android and it works just fine and I especially appreciate less to no adverts including on YouTube and Flickr.
I have one complaint though, it's very annoying that Opera decides to add to my own list of favourite websites ( this is on my laptop). It's terribly annoying to see Opera essentially adding advertising to my private list ( by adding websites like Amazon to my list). I've given lots of feedback in this regard with no change. Very annoying.
However it's relatively minor complaint
Pathetic browser
Installing take few hours or endless,so when is already installed i can't open,Aloha browser is much better.
Browser with several adds and quite…
Browser with several adds and quite insecure on regards your data, limited adds on as well.
I have used Opera almost from the start…
I have used Opera almost from the start but recently I have become dissolutioned with it.
On numerous occasions I have lost all my tabs, many of them important. But now I am finished with it. I still keep losing all my tabs, it would seem mostly after an update. I have just lost all my tabs again and have run out of patience. There were some that were important ones to me and now I have lost contact information that I don't know how I'm going to get back. This despite Opera assuring that they were on top of it. It was mainly the tabs that swung me to it but as I can't rely on it any more I am going spmewhere else
It's OK
I had Opera browser before, the engine is chromium it is also fast and customizable, the regular Opera is like a light version of Opera GX for gaming, in my experience Opera is easy to use and navigate as long as you know your way around Opera settings, the GX version for gaming is just themed regular Opera browser with additional features for gaming and all, but the most issue I notice and this was never address ever since I was using Opera before, the welcoming search page of Opera with the news ON, some of the images are missing or not even loading at all, some videos while watching randomly drop to poor quality. The VPN is "meh" I would just suggest you use a separate VPN of your own. The speed of the browser is on par with chrome but that's just me. All in all it is a good browser just needed to fix some issues and perhaps it will be a better option than Chrome, also there is an issue of it as chinese owned and privacy is an issue (google that for more).
This is actually good!
I am a certified opera user and I can't stop using it! that's how good this browser is!
Crashed again lost over 60 tabs on 6…
Crashed again lost over 60 tabs on 6 workspaces
Happens every time you do an update!!
Opera is Unfinished
The fact that you first need to download an opera file that then downloads something is ridiculous. The fact that streaming sites like Owlbear Rodeo doesn't update when playing online. The fact that it crashes so much. I love opera because it is like a tiny os that does everything. But make it functional please
