What the heck is a "Convenience Fee"

What the heck is a "Convenience Fee". That is so very awful!! I've visited my local Marcus Theater for years and am so very disappointed with them for a $4.95 Convenience Fee. Even if you get your tickets refunded, they do not refund this fee. I will most likely not visit them again because of this. I find this kind of hidden fee horrible. You won't know until you purchase tickets online and this fee cannot be reversed. Fraudulent money making!!

Marcus cinema has a stupid website that charges a convinence fee, unless you go through a ridiculous process with their dumb verification codes that never get sent to your email address and then expire every 5 minutes where you have to start the whole process all over again! Whoever created this horrible waste of time add on headache should be fired!!!!

Favorite hang-out

Favorite hang-out. Large and varied movie selections. Friendly helpful staff. Fun lobby experience. Nice food offerings if you're into that and upstairs bar. Easy online booking and cancellation.

worse popcorn

The theater was filthy, popcorn way overpriced and the worse popcorn I even tried to chew. Huge hard cornels. I will never go to Marcus again.

Cheated out of my Movie Club Ticket

***Marcus Theaters contacted me and resolved the issue, finally. I am satisfied with the resolution. I will still be a returning customer. I changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars.***

Nothing wrong with the location, clean and friendly.

Customer service on the other hand cheated my out of a Movie Club ticked. They admit it is their fault, but then refuse to reimburse or reinstate the ticket cost. Certainly lost the business of this annual movie club customer, along with the multitude of friends and family I have been taking. Big disappointment.

If there are any questions I have plenty of emails and proof to follow up with. Absolutely terrible experience.

It is sad how the service and…

It is sad how the service and cleanliness of the theater in our town has diminished. I did not even use the restroom it was in deplorable condition. There was trash everywhere and where it was really bad they just put a yellow caution sign over it instead of someone cleaning it. There were teenagers loitering inside and out. I had heard car break-ins were happening outside the theater. Will not go back unless I hear it has changed drastically.

Steals from customers

Online transaction fee is non-refundable EVEN for clerical errors. Why do you even HAVE a 10:25 PM showing of MOANA 2? Shouldn’t your CEO be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor?

This place has gotten so cheap that…

This place has gotten so cheap that they guard the slushy machine with actual guards. I went to get a refill on my slushy and they physically stopped me. If there was another choice to go to after this jerk move I would go there

Discrimination: bad customer service

I had came from church and decided to take my daughter to see the little mermaid book the tickets online the movie started at 1:40 PM. We made it to the theater about 145. There was no one in line I want to get popcorn and soda. I asked the guy was he open and he say yeah! I proceeded to ask him for large popcorn butter in the middle butter on top large Pepsi, and a hot dog, I noticed there was a Popcorn already sitting on the counter a large popcorn I saw when I arrive at the counter so I’m not thinking he’s going to give me that because I specifically order a specific popcorn I proceeded to pay as we are already late for the movie. I gave him a $50 bill , he then put it in the air the $50 bill in the air . Seems like 10 minutes that. he their put the $50 bill in the Air seems like 10 minutes that really irritated me. after he does that he grabs the popcorn on the counter and gives it to me and a cup, after he does that he grabs the popcorn on the counter and gives it to me in a cup. I’m so frustrated about this . I’m so frustrated about him staring at my $50 bill for 10 minutes. I forget to put in my rewards points we already late for the movie. Then he gives me my change as I’m counting it he says in a foreign accent is all there! I really don’t appreciate that! My daughter is asking me why is he holding our money in the air? I told her to check to see if it’s real but he’d have to hold it in the air that long and he didn’t have to give me the Stale popcorn that was sitting on the counter.. and that bother me through the whole movie of how we were treated at the counter I’ve never been treated like this before at your theaters. On top of I didn’t get to get my rewards for the food that I purchase because he was being an Racist l
So this kind of turned me off from your movie theater!
I will not be returning to be treated as such a manner. I have my daughter witness that. Totally ridiculous.

Chaos!

We were told to go to theatre 9 but the movie was not in theatre 9 even though it was printed on the ticket. Had to go find an employee and he said it was in 10, so we went in, and the movie was not on. Went out again and they said they would try to get it going. Then when it came on, it was a narrated version over the speakers. Went out again and they had no idea what I was talking about. Finally, they came back in after about 10 minutes and apologized and gave us free tickets to come back. We suffered through the movie since we live 50 miles away. About 3/4ths of the way into the movie, they brought in food 3 times during about a 5minute period of the movie even though we and the other couple had not ordered anything. To top it off, I went to their website to tell them about the experience and could not get on due to the fact that our sales slip had no code to enter. Needless to say, if we did not have the free tickets we would NEVER go back.

You have to go through about 15 steps…

You have to go through about 15 steps to order food on your phone. They no longer come to your seat to take the order. You then pay way more then other theaters charge for the same products. If they offered the same service they did pre Covid I could see it but not at this lack of service. My question is WHY? The idea is to NOT inconvenience your customers. They have forgotten that. Take your money to Cinemark it’s a much better value!

I had a great time with my older sister…

I had a great time with my older sister watching "Sailor Moon S" with English subtitles in Elk River, MN! The theatres were clean, the picture was nice and the sound wasn't too loud, which is surprising since even my older sister has autism which can lead to sensory overloads, but none happened! She walked out of the theater feeling great and a little emotional, we both did. The bathrooms seemed clean, too!
