The school is a rip off

Last year we sent our son to Centre International d'Antibes in Antibes for a French language course. I posted a one star review that the school keeps on replying to, presumably to discredit my review. However, I don't want this review to be buried amongst others, so hence me repeating the issues here. The host family did not engage with the children and the man in the couple did not speak French as his first language. The boys were eating breakfast and dinner on their own and hence spoke english to each other. The host family lived half an hour away from the centre of Antibes with infrequent public transport, so the boys could not eat at home and then also go out in Antibes in the evenings. We ended up covering their meals in Antibes so they had a chance to experience the city. We sent three boys and two of the boys did not have proper French lessons in the school, but played games and were allowed on their phones whenever they wanted, which was obviously distracting. The food was poor and scarce both at the host family and at the school. I do not recommend anyone sending their child to this school.

My son have been in your camp 3 times…

My son have been in your camp 3 times and always comes back very energised and happy. He is little sad that he has turned 16 and next year he can come to your camp for the last time. My son really liked his French teacher who made the lessons interesting and fun. He came back with much more confidence. Unfortunately he spend a bit of his pocket money on food as the food wasn't very nice apparently. Thank you to all the instructors who made his experience in Antibes exceptional and fun. My son made many friends and loved all the after school activities. He is looking forward to coming again.

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your review following your son’s stay. We are delighted he enjoyed again his time in our school and he is feeling more confidence. It is always a real pleasure to welcome him.
However we are really sorry that he didn’t appreciate the food, we are currently working on this issue to improve the quality of the meals. As due to the exceptional situation with the Covid, we have had to adapt our offer and this year we are only offering meal trays instead of our usual large buffet.
We hope to see him next year (and the following years as an adult!).
Kind regards,
The team of CIA

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review.

We are sorry to read that you did not enjoy the meals. All our schools always ensure that our catering teams use only fresh and healthy ingredients. Due to the particular situation with the Covid, we have had to adapt our offer and this year we only propose tray meals instead of our usual large buffet. We are currently working on this issue to improve the quality of the meals.

We hope to welcome you again in our school.
Your sincerely,

CIA Team

Nice experience, but…

I sent my 2 daughters of 9 and 10 for one week to the full program, night included. The experience was definitely widening their horizon, as they met kids from various parts of Europe and had to interact with everyone in one way or another. The morning lessons were ok, levelled to the age group. The afternoon program was great and exciting… only, it was mostly run in English. Not just the kids spoke English among themselves, also the animation team spoke mostly English. Especially at that age, the best way to learn a language is full immersion, and it’s actually the reason why I sent them to a school in France and not in our home country. Therefore, unfortunately, I don’t think we will repeat the experience in the future.

Dear Chiara,
We would like to thank you for leaving this review following your 2 daughters’ stay with our all included program. We are pleased to read that they appreciated our teaching methods and our programme of fun activities.
Communicating with children from all over the world allows for an open mind and they will keep it for life!
Concerning the utilisation of the French language, our camp leaders speak most of the time in French except when they have to give some important instructions during the activities as we do have children who are complete beginners in French.
If you would like anything else clarified by us to assist further, we would be happy to follow up with you directly.
Sincerely. The team at CIA

Weak intensity of the French course

The language course could be more intensive. After the 3 weeks the language level didn't improve much.
Beside of that, the atmosphere was good. I met many interesting and nice people there.

Bonjour Darina,

We thank you very much for your review.
We will take a look how we can organise our classes to propose a higher progress level for our students.
Effectively Antibes is a nice location to meet interesting people. Our school always tries to help our students to make new connections and to explore the beautiful French Riviera.

We hope to see you again!

Kind regards,
The Centre International d'Antibes

Dear Aleksei,

we regret to hear that you didn't like the food. We can assure you that our restaurant teams only use fresh and healthy ingredients. It would be helpful if you could specify what you didn't like concretely. This would give us the chance to adapt our food to your wishes in the future.

As to the timetable, we communicate it to every student and this repetetively. Normally, we never occur any issues with it, but we regret that your kids had to carry more school items with them than necessary. For special activities as different kinds of sports, we usually provide the necessary equipment. So even if your kids had wrong shoes, we might have provided the right ones for the respective activities.

Please reach out to us directly at direct3@cia-france.com if you would be willing to give us a chance to turn your experience around or if you want to discuss further the incident. It would be such a pleasure to personally welcome you back to our school!

Kind regards,

The CIA Antibes Team
