Why isn’t there a ‘Watchdog’ watching out for what has been happening with Dating Sites for years, where they are not running these sites correctly. I also notice there is no subscribing by telephone so that you can say at the beginning you only want a certain amount of months subscription.
How are they allowed to get away with this. It would not be allowed with any other companies. How can you make a complaint about them. They all seem to be doing the same thing - taking as much money from you as possible. They should not be getting away with this.

I have been online dating for over 10 years on and off. Met a few nice people along the way but have also had to go chasing my money during cool off periods. I'm back to the old school method now. It's much more fun.

Whenever I see these so-called top dating sites listed on google, I can't stop myself from laughing. I've tried so many of these dating sites and wasted loads of money in the process. I can count on one hand the sites that ever proved useful in finding me a real date and these sites are never featured in any list I see on google. Why isn't Shagslam, Foupster or Wickedslamxyz on any google list?

These pages should be shut down. Because of their recommendations, I signed up to 40smeet.co.uk that took more money than expected when I finally decide to join..They rated this site quite highly too. These people are supposed to be reviewing these sites and doing their due diligence to make sure that they are legit but obviously not. I’m still trying to get my money back as they took quite a large amount.

Every site recommended on this page is a scam.

AVOID SAGA CONNECTIONS ONLINE DATING
For 12 months i messaged numerous men got no reply. My subscription expired so they emailed me a price reduced offer. I asked if my profile was still on site they said it was.
So before deciding whether to rejoin, I sent a one liner to a man and instantly got a reply. Also there suddenly seemed to be a lot of men nearby my area. So I joined which meant i could send him a message and after 2 days the conversation stopped with a random strange comment. And guess what - yes that's right, all the nearby men disappeared and it was impossible to obtain a refund which i should have been able to get as it was within 14 days.
I messaged another couple of men, of course no reply. But by now they has the one year subscription taken up front instead of as a monthly payment and i can't get it back.
I reckon the Saga staff spent their time making fake profiles using AI and send fake messages to people.
I seriously recommend not to use this site.

Elite Singles is the worst. The matches are all about 15 years older than me and most live at least 50 miles away, usually more. It’s impossible to contact Customer Services - literally the only contact details to be found, after a lot of searching, is a postal address in Germany! I can’t believe that I keep seeing it rated as eg #4 top dating site! It’s a complete scam (I have been on e-harmony and Match and they were both fine)

Joined Elite Singles as a result of a friends recommendation only to be bitterly disappointed and feel insulted. There is a lengthy sign in process that is supposed to make your experience more tailored - baloney - they disregard the straightforward points like distance, age and send you people that are totally not appropriate based on you providing so much information - seriously I wouldn’t recommend anyone wastes either their money or time.

Avoid E-Harmony. I found the site fairly useless after paying for a year’s subscription and so after a week or so stopped using the site and never logged in. It offered people who lived miles away and so for my circumstances just wouldn’t work. After 12 months they took £310 from my credit card as an automatic renewal. Their argument is they do this to provide an uninterrupted service and so refused to give my money back. I feel that if they had confidence in the service they provide then surely after 12 months on their site you should no longer need their service! It’s a very sneaky way of guaranteeing easy revenue and bolstering their profits.

I thought I was being ‘snobby’ regarding picking up on poor grammar; but there are individuals from all over, including outside the UK, tapping into this potential ‘gold mine.’

Very unhelpful response from the Admin which I challenged. The Admin gave a statement, promptly, saying they had 100% confidence (in the scammer) and I was wrong to be alarmed. When I challenged their 100% backing (of the scammer), they revised their view, without apology/explanation and said the person (‘scammer’) was under their monitoring system. I have removed myself from the site. They have been instructed to remove my profile and information which they kindly confirmed.

Whilst I appreciate the Admin have their limits, their complaints/concern handling could be improved. They should avoid 100% assurances.

In the spirit of balance, their online safety advice reading is helpful. Thank you.

Update of Cumbria Dating site- Hundreds of responses, but have come to the conclusion that 3/4 are fake or not interested or wasting time.
Messages posted are sent to all members, but gives the impression that it is you that someone is interested in as they arrive in your in box.
Many do not have a full profile description, and so likely not to have paid subscription fees, which means they can wink at you, but can not reply to messages. You are wasting time responding to them.
A high proportion of men are widowed- don’t believe it.
Many want you to phone them on what’s app- scam
Declarations of romance and lots of compliments- take care, as likely to be a scam.
It’s only after being on the site for 6 weeks that I’ve learnt to detect the none genuines. Membership for 3 months. Interesting exercise, but waste of time meeting anyone, unless you want to put yourself at risk.

Shiny exterior but absolute ripoff due to hidden fees. Boast free cancellation within 2 weeks if required. Then when you cancel due to realising you’ve wasted £89 quid, they set a trap so they can retain most of it. So they profit from this too. Of course T&Cs well hidden, and just provide the link to cover themselves legally. Misleading to say the least, and worst dating site I ever encountered in every sense including the profiles. Wouldn’t bother even if it was free.

Do not and I repeat do not use ‘date my age’ dating site, they scam you out of lots and lots of money. Preying on lonely vulnerable people is appalling and they should be regulated

Dating sites say in their terms and conditions that they won't share your information with any other online dating sites..well that's a lie..the same profiles on various sites &my bestie who I met on one hadn't joined mine but another. They're all scammers and Elite Dating Singles &Match.com are the worst for it.
