Rent a Car Cheater in UAE

I had a very disappointing experience with their customer service. Communication was extremely poor, and there was a complete lack of transparency regarding fees and charges.

Despite multiple follow-ups through emails, phone calls, WhatsApp, and the application chat, they were still unable to provide a simple invoice. There also appears to be no proper coordination or information sharing between SelfDrive and Diamond Lease.

I returned the car in Abu Dhabi on 24 April 2026, and even after around 12 days, I still have not received my deposit refund. This is highly disappointing and unacceptable customer handling. Due to this experience, I am considering taking legal action against SelfDrive UAE.

I strongly advise others to read customer reviews carefully before renting from them. Based on my experience, I would not recommend their service to anyone.

Good rental process, but disappointing deposit refund support

I had a generally smooth experience renting from SelfDrive.ae, especially during the booking and car collection process. A special thanks to Sayed, who was very cooperative, professional, and genuinely helpful throughout the rental. He guided me properly, suggested a suitable car according to my needs, and helped me stay within budget instead of trying to upsell expensive options. His attitude and customer service were excellent.

However, the experience became frustrating after returning the car. Even after completing the required 30-day waiting period for the security deposit refund, there has been no proper response regarding the refund status. Reaching support has been difficult, and the app itself does not provide a proper complaint management system where customers can track or submit issues easily.

I believe SelfDrive.ae should clearly mention an official complaint email address and customer support phone number inside the app for situations like deposit delays. Good rental experience overall, but the after-service support seriously needs improvement.

Very bad experience with their customer…

Very bad experience with their customer service.
Poor communication.
No transparency on fees.
Despite multiple follow ups and calls, they are unable to share a simple invoice (Emails, Calls, WA, Application chat) No proper information circulation between SelfDrive & Diamond lease !

Do not recommend to be trapped by their promo offers as they will charge you higher than market price eventually before you return the vehicle and yet you need to waste your time to communicate with them almost everyday to update simple things with multiple team members from both companies. The conversation with, so called "supervisor", Ms. Thresa from SelfDrive was a real disaster she delayed on each and every commitment she made and yet forcing to pay 500 AED extra for declined payment for a single day. Very poor and rude behavior. All they know is Money and rest is not their matter.

NEVER EVER WORK WITH THEM. (YOU WILL KNOW IT WHEN IT IS TOO LATE) Remember my Review once you are there !Hope NOT!

Worst experience from the customer…

Worst experience from the customer service team.

I had a very disappointing experience with the customer service team at SelfDrive UAE.

For the past 4 days, I have been trying to obtain an invoice through email, calls, and WhatsApp, but there has been no proper response or resolution. When I finally managed to reach the invoice department, I spoke with Ms. Soyila (apologies if I’ve misspelled the name).

During the call, she confirmed that she had seen my WhatsApp message and stated that the invoice had already been sent. However, I clearly informed her that I had not received anything and requested her to verify the number. At the same time, I even sent a message on WhatsApp to reconfirm.

Instead of checking the issue properly, she repeatedly insisted that I check my internet connection, which was not the problem. When I requested her to share a screenshot of the sent invoice for confirmation, she did not address the request and continued speaking in an annoyed tone, even raising her voice during the conversation.

This kind of response is highly unprofessional and frustrating, especially when a customer has been following up for several days. I expected a basic level of support and accountability, but unfortunately, the experience was quite the opposite.

I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service, particularly in handling simple requests like invoice sharing with more professionalism and respect.

Poor Delivery Customer Service

I would have loved to give this company a great review as the available cars were great deals. Unfortunately it was the delivery service that made my experience bad. My car wasn’t delivered on the day it was meant to, and the following day when they called me in the morning to tell me it will be delivered within an hour as fast delivery it took them over 5 hours to deliver it with no communication or clarity of a arrival time, ignoring calls and text messages.

Stress-Free First Rental, Thanks to Sayed

I had an excellent experience with Sayed from the Sales Team. This was my first time renting a car, and honestly, I was completely clueless and had a lot of questions. On top of that, I was working with a very low budget, so I was quite confused about what to choose.

Sayed was incredibly patient, helpful, and understanding throughout the whole process. He took the time to answer all my questions clearly and guided me step by step. What really stood out was how he helped me find the best car within my budget without making me feel pressured at all.

He made the entire experience smooth and stress-free, which I really appreciated as a first-time renter. Thanks to his support, I felt confident in my decision.

A month later part of my deposit just…

A month later part of my deposit just disappears with no message no explanation nothing.

I had to chase them myself just to find out what happened and only then did they send a receipt. That’s not how it should work. If you’re taking someone’s money you should explain it properly upfront.

They added random service fees and other charges that were never clearly explained or agreed to. It just feels like they make things up after the fact and expect you not to question it.

I rented a car in doha months back…

I rented a car in doha months back stilling receiving traffic fines with no proof even though iv asked several times. The customer service agent was very unresponsive. Better to rent from a physical company rather than a website. I even got money debited today for a fine. Furthermore I still haven't received my deposit back.
