I bought travel insurance from Postcard in early March 2020. I checked with them beforehand that I would be covered in the event of cancellation due to Government travel restrictions and they confirmed that I would be. Unfortunately a few weeks later my holiday was cancelled due to Covid restrictions and I was forced to claim on the insurance as the company I had booked my holiday with went bankrupt. Postcard refused to pay out - claiming that Covid was a known event at the time I took out the policy. This was despite they fact they had said I was covered and despite the fact I took out the policy before Covid was declared a pandemic. I complained further but that claim was rejected by their internal complaints team who had the audacity to tell me that their own staff had made a mistake in saying that I would be covered and offered me a paulty £100 as compensation. I took them to the financial ombudsman and finally - 520 days after making my claim - they were obliged to pay out as the ombudsman found in my favour. Overall a truly appalling service from Postcard who basically tried every trick in the book to avoid paying out a legitimate claim. Needless to say I will not be using them again.

Spoke to Rob on the phone. Excellent service and explanation. Good cover at a great price. Couldn't have been better. Rate the service as excellent.
Booked insurance before the pandemic which clearly stated on their website that they covered everything including outbreaks of diseases. This was a massive selling point and the only insurer that clearly pointed this out on their website (in hidden small print). However, when the pandemic struck they decided to change their wording on the website (luckily i had screenshot it). I decided to email their customer service team with which they confirmed i was covered. Only a few days later an advisor out of the blue emailed me and decided I wasn’t covered?!
Regardless of this, i had to make a claim due to medical issues with a member of my party. Postcard tried everything in their power to block the claim, making excuses that an agent who was dealing with my claim was on holiday? This delayed it about 2 1/2 months. There was a constant back and forth game of tennis from the doctors to postcard. This is because their claim form is extremely misleading and doesn’t ask direct questions. Overall a waste of mine and the doctors precious time.
Would i use the company again? Absolutely not!

Used them last year and chose them this year as the language on the website seemed jargon free and last experience was hassle free. However, last time I did not had to contact them, this time round, I have been trying to contact them for almost a month, I have even tried the responses@tifgroup email address with my contact details such as name, policy number etc., but still no response.

We had a trip cancelled by our airline due to Covid-19. We are getting a refund directly from the airline for the flights but this company are refusing to pay out for the accommodation. It has been a long drawn out process which has resulted in undue stress and an unsuccessful result from their complaints department. We are now passing this to the financial ombudsman. In my experience I would avoid this company at all costs. Their ‘cancel for any reason any time’ selling point is misleading, they will avoid paying out no matter which way you turn or what your personal circumstances are.

A close personal friend died shortly before our trip, we cancelled to help in any way we could and quite frankly didn't feel like going on holiday with that news
Postcard are demanding that i provide them with my friends GP records before they allow me to claim.
It is impossible for anyone to get someone elses GP records, as they are fully aware. An unrelated person can not get someone elses GP records. it's impossible and they know it
They make an impossible demand in what i believe is a deliberate attempt to stop us getting our insurance money.
It's cancel for any reason insurance, if i said my goldfish died it should be valid, then again they would probably ask for a signed death notice from Aquaman.
I currently feel that this is a complete and utter scam & should be shut down.
TRUST THEM AT YOUR OWN RISK
I will be taking this to court on principle if i have to!!

My honest experience, at first this postcard travel insurance seemed very good. However the issue came when I had to claim due to My flights been cancelled due to Covid-19. I had taken this insurance for that purpose, as at the time of taking it out I was stil able to travel to my destination (Japan) with no real risk. My main concern was maybe catching Covid 19 while in Japan I spoke to the advisor who sold me this insurance and he assured me I was covered against flight cancellations due to Covid 19 and also if I contracted Covid 19 while abroad we spoke about this in-depth as this was my main worry. I took this insurance on 12/03/20, then on the 17/03/20 the FOC advised against all non essential travel, however my flights where still going ahead.
On the 29/03/20 my flights were cancelled unexpectedly and I tried to make a claim. When I received a response from Postcard Travel Insurance I was confused, they stated that they will not cover me as this was not an unexpected event. This was not the case as I had taken the insurance on the basis I was covered for such a situation. I have taken this further as I explicitly asked if I would be covered before taking this cover out and I am waiting for an investigation to take place. Personally would never recommend this company. when it comes to crunch they try to work their way out of paying valid claims. Very disappointed dread to think what would happen if I did need them had I been abroad.

Very helpful we did not know exactly what was needed, went through all illness medication, explained everything . very polite and loads of patience
The company is using misleading information on its website to sell products. They state that customers can cancel their travel due to issues beyond their control. In practice, this never happens. I made a claim for cancelation of my travel due to COVID-19, however they refused my claim, based on unclear reasons. My travel was booked long before this event becomes as 'known event', but they do everything to decline claims, and provide misleading information.

First class, during the outbreak of corona our life’s are put on hold and things change.
I’m happy as my travel arrangements during this time we’re cancelled and postcard were very helpful and offered to change my travel insurance to cover my holiday for the future booking.
Didn't have to claim so no experience on that. Choose this due to the "cancel for any reason" cover. Seemed to offer good coverage - but unclear after I purchased (mid Feb) how they would cover claims for cancelling due to COVID outbreak. However, when I called and spoke to them they were helpful and clear on the process that would be followed in the case of any claim. Would use them again given the extent of medical and travel cover they offer.
Easy to purchase.
Not the cheapest - but provide some more cover than other (according to the contract).
Didn't have to claim - so difficult to say if the insurance is any good.
As consequence a "neutral" rating.

One can only rate an insurance company by how it treats a claim. I had to make one last year and the service was exceptional. Rapid response, no hassle and prompt payment. 5 star all the way.

As a brand new 76 yo, with several medical conditions for my (78yo) wife and I, getting travel insurance wasn't expected to be such a pleasure. Amanda had the patience of a saint and effortlessly took me through the extensive process and fitted us with an excellent 'Classic'
