I really love my classes with Cat. I look forward to them every week. She is encouraging and makes me feel motivated to learn the language. Her classes have helped me immensely in gaining the confidence to speak – which is the most intimidating part of learning Portuguese. Looking forward to see where my language journey takes me!

I have been doing Portuguese classes with Cat for almost a year now and I will definitely go on :) Even though it is hard to make time for the classes twice a week, I am always looking forward to them, because Cat's classes always provide the right amount of new topics and challenge, but are never overwhelming. With Cat I have been doing classes in two different groups and felt very comfortable in both. If you want a very knowledgeable, experienced, as well as a fun, emphatic and supportive teacher Cat is the one for you!

I love classes with Catarina. I even got my whole family to start classes with her because you can learn so fast and have so much support. Catarina's teaching technique is so unique and engaging and get books are the best to learn intuitively

When it comes to fostering a supportive, non-judgmental learning environment, Cat is a natural. I felt this on our first class together, and it became even more apparent on the 3-month intensive course I worked through with her this year. She is extremely patient, and her enthusiasm for languages and teaching shines through in every class. She does a great job of breaking things down and offering tips and tricks to help you memorise things, as well as answering all your questions. The intensive course is a lot of work, but it significantly boosted my confidence in speaking and understanding Portuguese. I'd highly recommend Cat to anyone looking to get stuck into their language learning journey, particularly anyone who may be feeling self-conscious about their ability, or who may be unsure where to start.

I really enjoy Portuguese classes with Cat - by far the best Portuguese class I've ever had. The course is very well structured, and also very engaging. My Portuguese has really improved, and I am feeling much more confident now than before I started. It's also great to be able to grasp certain grammatical points, since they are very clearly explained. Also the grammar is taught in such a way that it's not dry or boring, which helps it go in.

I Had an excellent time studying with Catarina. The classes were nicely structured and I felt pushed but not uncomfortable. Things were explained in a clear way and new rules or concepts were backed up with real world examples and practice.

The course had a good mix of new ideas, Conversational exercises and private study exercises which were well thought out.

Learning European Portuguese with Cat is a high quality learning experience which I cannot recommend enough. I have taken private classes with her aswell as group classes and have been able to improve my language skills significantly. The mix of grammar, cultural aspects, conversation and creative writing makes learning a lot of fun and I have met lovely people through her classes.

Cat is a great person to learn Portuguese with. In the lessons I've taken, she focuses on the hard parts of Portuguese *there are many.... and really tries to build your confidence. She has a great understanding of the language and her patience and friendliness really help you gain more confidence.

I had my first test class with Catarina in November last year (and first ever Portuguese class) and I knew immediately that the way her teaching is structured yet flexible, demanding yet fun and never intimidating was just made for me. And then there was her warm and most friendly and understanding personality :) Thanks to this combination, fast forward 12 months and I am reaching level C1! I was fortunate to join Catarina's group classes - with perfect balance of conversations, reading, listening and grammar to push myself ot of my comfort zone, and 1:1 classes, which helped build up my confidence and fill any gaps and doubts I have. Couldn't recommend enough!

I found the intermediate Portuguese lessons (B1/2) with Cat were incredibly rewarding and well-structured. Cat’s approach to the subjunctive (conjuntivo) was particularly effective—breaking it down into manageable, clear explanations while incorporating practical examples that made it much less intimidating. Her guide was very useful, and provided a great tool for quick revision. The balance between grammar and conversation was excellent, and there was flexibility in terms of being able to take on greater or lesser homework depending on your time commitments.

The combination of grammar and speaking not only improved my understanding of the language’s mechanics but also boosted my confidence in speaking and expressing myself. Cat is an excellent and intuitive instructor. Highly recommended!

Classes with Catarina are dinamic, funny and very productive. Cat is able to make you learn difficult grammar aspects effortlessly. Besides, there is a perfect combination between grammar, conversation, reading and culture. I really recomend learning with Cat.

I like a lot to study with Catarina . Always in an easy way, but suddenly i started to speak Portuguese in a daily life easy and without stress . Of course still uou need to study , but the way of communication with teacher , topics we discussed every time on our lessons are very interesting and lively important.

I have completed several Portuguese courses (online & in person) and can wholeheartedly recommend Catarina as a tutor/teacher. We have had several 1:1 sessions, and I also had the opportunity to join one of her small group classes. Thus, I’ll share about both. Individual lesson: It is a pleasure to speak with a native Portuguese and receive real time corrections, answers to questions, and guidance. She is very knowledgable and I believe her career background is an extra plus. She works with different materials and there is a variety of instruction/speaking/listening, all vital parts to learning the language. Online group class: I was actually quite impressed with the small group. Not just how she taught the class (eg. discussion, mini lecture, breakout rooms, etc), but seeing how her students spoke and their comfort level gave me a lot of confidence in her abilities; I have not seen this in other small groups I have done. At this time I was looking for 1:1, but if I return to group classes, I will definitely go to her! 10/10 recommend.

I stumbled on Cat's portuguese classes after having disappointing experiences at a couple of other portuguese courses, and it is incredible what a difference the right teacher can make. The classes are dynamic and conversational but Cat still manages to weave in the gramatical lessons in a way that they stick with you. She also does a great job at adapting to each person's specific needs and level, and her tips to sound more natural are spot on. I am about to start my third set of classes with her, and I have looked forward to each one, because besides being fun (which is important), I can feel myself improving. If you are serious about nailing portuguese these are the classes.
