Loss of confidence in a Lifetime Unlimited licence

I purchased the WooCommerce Product Add-Ons Ultimate "Lifetime Unlimited" license in good faith for $279 + 25% Danish VAT, specifically to use it on my websites without limitations.

However, with the release of version 4, the company retroactively changed the terms of my purchase without prior warning or consent. They introduced a strict cap of 25 activations on a license that was explicitly sold as "unlimited."

When contacting support, I was told they could "manually open up for more sites if needed," but having to ask for permission to use a product I already paid for completely breaks the trust. It is deeply disappointing to see a provider alter contracts and terms with retroactive effect, especially for early backers who bought into a lifetime deal

I would like to clarify that my review is not about the quality of your plugin. I still consider Product Add-Ons Ultimate to be an excellent plugin, and my rating is not a reflection of its functionality.

My review is about trust and the confidence customers expect when purchasing a lifetime licence.

When I purchased a **Lifetime Unlimited** licence, I expected those terms to remain clear and unquestionable. Some months later, after updating the plugin, I noticed that my account displayed a limit of 25 activations. I had not been informed beforehand that my account would display this limit, so I contacted support to understand what it meant.

I appreciated your explanation in April regarding the reason behind this approach, and I understood the intention of helping to prevent licence abuse. However, understanding the explanation is not the same as feeling confident about how the situation was handled.

Seeing a numerical limit on a licence sold as **"Lifetime Unlimited"** created uncertainty and affected my confidence. Whether I currently use 3, 25 or 300 activations is beside the point. My concern has never been how many activations I need today. It is that I purchased a lifetime licence, yet later found that I would need to contact support if I ever required additional (+25) activations.

I appreciate that this may work perfectly well in practice. However, for me, a lifetime licence should provide certainty without depending on future requests or manual adjustments. Once that confidence had been lost, it became difficult not to wonder whether the expectations attached to a lifetime licence might change again in the future.

That is why I left a 2-star review.

For me, this was never about the number of activations. It was about the confidence that a lifetime licence should provide.

My rating reflects my experience with how the situation was handled and the loss of confidence it caused. It is NOT a criticism of the quality of your plugin, which I still consider to be excellent.

Unfortunately, in my case, that confidence has not yet been fully restored.

Gareth and JP are great. I'm implementing their plug-ins on a Breakdance site. It's proven to be challenging because Breakdance removes several hooks from the woocommerce single product template, the archives template and checkout sequence. Thus, effectively stopping Plugin Republic's plugins from working. I've had to do several workarounds and Gareth and JP have been there every step of the way to give guidance and tips to making their plugins work correctly on my site. They are also serious about making their plugins better, so they've made notes and updates based on my feedback. I've not encountered any plugin developer that responds to my emails as quickly as they have. Top notch team.

Developer Gareth was super helpful and incredibly fast to respond. He went extra mile to help to accommodate my needs. I must admit I never experienced the interaction with any plugin or system developer like this before. Many thanks for your patience and everything you did to help us!

The plugin is very good, but it has a few shortcomings. It's also a pity that there are separate plugins that can be purchased, it would be a better option if everything was included in the price of the main plugin.
