Insincere time wasters
It would seem, and this is not just my experience, that the men who go speed dating are not serious (whether they’re looking for sex, proper relationships or just friends). Over the course of four events, I have received several “yes” matches - we have exchanged text (even phone conversations) for a day or so and then NOTHING. I’m a very relaxed, laid back individual and very easy to be with, I like to have fun - so luckily this rejection doesn’t bother me - but there are fragile feelings out there, which are unnecessarily trampled on. Ok, women do that too but that’s my point - why are these rude people speed dating?
My lady friends express the same frustration. These men have already met us, know what we look like, what we sound like - why suddenly are we rudely ignored?
The host should be able to vet who attends events - I don’t know how, but time wasters should be excluded.

I’m truly sorry to hear that you’ve had frustrating encounters after the events. As the owner of New Connections, I put my heart into creating safe, friendly spaces where genuine people can meet, and it’s always disappointing to hear when someone feels let down.
I completely understand how disheartening it can be when someone seems keen at the event and then disappears afterwards. Sadly, this behaviour can happen in all areas of dating — online, offline, and even through introductions by friends. It doesn’t mean you did anything wrong, nor does it mean that all men (or women) who attend are not serious. In fact, we’ve seen many genuine connections form at our events, and several real couples have come from them — which gives us hope and shows us that sincerity is definitely still out there.
We do our very best to host well-run, warm, welcoming events, but we can’t control personal behaviour once people leave. What we can do is continue improving the experience and keeping the environment as respectful and kind as possible.
As for “vetting” attendees, we truly wish there were a perfect way to filter out time-wasters — but real intentions are something only time can reveal. If someone behaves poorly, that reflects on them, not on you or the event.
And thank you for coming along to multiple events — it means a lot to us. We hope you won’t give up on the idea of meeting someone lovely, because there absolutely are genuine men and women attending, and we see them forming connections all the time.

Great event especially for older singletons ! Welcoming and friendly host and very well organised. Event locations have car parks which is great.
Definitely would recommend - a great way to meet new friends and connections !

She is a warm and welcoming host that will put you at ease if you have any nerves about taking apart. The events are well organised at selected venues across an ever expanding list of locations. A great way to get out and meet people to create opportunities . If you are tired of dating apps as most people are that take the step into speed dating give i’d say give it a go you never know who you might meet.

New connections provide excellent opportunity for everyone who try and wants to find a significant other. The places chosen for meetings are meticulously designed and arranged for both you and your potential partner to feel romantic atmosphere. For the several events I attended, I can admit that all participants were high quality people - it felt like they were preselected. Match is always the main goal, but even if do not happen on the night, the social aspect is immense as broadens your perception for the characters of the opposite sex. It might provoke you raising the right questions for yourself in the context of where you stands.
For a fraction of the average price of romantic dinner for two, New connections meets you in romantic atmosphere with several real high quality persons from the opposite sex, while at the same time build real social life.
New connections is unique by putting you in the center of what they do.

New connections are fantastic
I am new to speed dating and was quite nervous really but first couple times I went with a friend which helped.
To be fair there was no need to be nervous as it was a very laid back event run a a lovely hostess who personally greeted every single person upon entering and quickly put us at ease. Alex the hostess is really nice and explained everything in a very simple and encouraging way.
The venue was a nice cosy pub with a sort of private bit for us speed daters away from the other customers so we had a high degree of privacy.
I wish I had tried speed dating years ago because it was a really nice evening and it wasn’t hard to meet ladies and just talk normally.
I’ve now been to several different locations/events all run by new connections and I have to say they are all fantastic and I encourage anyone to just do it and stop thinking about it.
It will be the best thing you do !

The host settled my jangly nerves
On arrival there was a warm welcome by the host Alex, which settled the nerves down.
The plan for the evening was explained thoroughly.
The pub was an excellent choice, location spot on, lots of parking, and a nice ambience.

Speed-dating with welcoming and relaxed atmosphere
New Connections is a business operating speed-dating events across Midlands, East-Anglia, and South East. I have been to two events which were both well organised. The first was at an edge of town new build pub, and the other was an all-day cafe/bar. Both venues had a warm unique atmosphere. I was immediately made to feel welcome by the host and handed a scoring card, also I liked that dates were longer than expected so I was able to learn more about my dating partners. A negative was the first event had just 3 women 5 men, because 1 women dropped out. The second event had 8 women 6 men. Overall I would use this business again because of the nice venues and good dating atmosphere.
