Approx. £22,600 in gold was handed over to a representative of the company who identified himself as James, under a signed contract (copy retained). Despite assurances, no funds were ever received.

Multiple attempts to make contact were made via various phone numbers and channels on separate occasions, but were unsuccessful.

At the time of writing, the company’s primary telephone number appears to have been suspended. We were informed this may have followed communication with the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB).

The matter has been formally reported to both the Police and the NFIB (Ref: NFRC251107742139).

This review may be updated or withdrawn pending full verification of the company’s explanation, cooperation by its representatives, and full settlement of the outstanding sum.

I agreed to sell a set of gold coins to James of Kingsley &co on the 30th September. James assured me that he had a buyer lined up and that I would receive payment in about a week
From that point on the experience was extremely frustrating. On the 8th October he told me the money would be in his account and he would phone me the next day to tell me the exact amount I would receive and to make the payment. No call came, Over the next several weeks I called more than 20 times, most of the phone messages and texted were ignored. When I did manage to speak to James I was given a string inconsistent and unbelievable excuses.
After weeks of delays and false promises, I finally threatened to report the matter to the police on the 30th October. Only then did he send me a small payment. Despite repeated claims that the full payment had been made, this was untrue. The account was finally settled on 6th November, but only after 3 separate installments and continuous pressure on my part.
This entire process was unprofessional, dishonest and needlessly stressful. Based on my experience I would strongly warn others to be extremely cautious when dealing with this individual.

We’re sorry to hear this client felt disappointed with their experience, but we would like to provide some important context.

The coins provided on 30th September were not a complete collection, including the main coin from the original set. This naturally made the collection far more difficult to sell, as collectors and investors typically only purchase complete boxed sets. Despite this, we still agreed to assist and proceeded with the sale.

Because of the missing coins, the agreed price reflected around 25% of the normal base rate of gold, which was fully explained and accepted. Finding a buyer for an incomplete set understandably took a little time, but the transaction was completed well within a reasonable time frame of four weeks, which is standard for such sales.

All payments were made in full through verified banking channels, and any short delay related to mandatory Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance checks a legal requirement for all high-value transactions in the UK.

We also wish to clarify that we strongly dispute the claim of 20+ ignored calls, as our internal logs do not reflect this. Communication was maintained throughout, and updates were provided as the sale progressed.

At Kingsley & Co, we handle thousands of successful transactions each year across the UK, built on trust, compliance, and professionalism. While we regret that this particular transaction was more complex due to the missing main coin and compliance procedures, it was handled in good faith from start to finish, and the client was fully paid.

My Kingsley Time piece Skeliton blue arrived after two weeks and I'm delighted with it. Works OK, I've had it a week and it's keeping time. Colleagues at work have commented on its look etc. Only cost £109. Delivery was longer than expected but I'm happy with my purchase.

I telephoned and spoke to a James about selling some 1st edition books. He said send him the details and he would get straight back to me. A week went by, I hadn't heard, so I rang him, he apologised and said the books were worth several thousand pounds, and he would ring me about getting to see them. Another week, he never phoned, so I rang him, profuse apologies again. We discussed taking them to auction, he took my address and said he would work out how to collect them, and would ring me the next day. He never rang - another week -I phoned him and actually said politely that if he wasn't interested it wasn't a problem, just tell me so I could go elsewhere. He apologised again, and said a friend was coming to London from Cornwall and could possibly collect the books. I said I could meet him somewhere to save him any inconvience, James said he would contact him and ring me straight back. A week later - I phoned again - I think he was driving, he said he would ring me shortly - he never did, and that was 10 days ago. Over a month, I phoned 6 times, and James called me back once!
I have had businesses for over 30 years and would never treat a potential client like this. It is very short sighted because James does not know what else I might like to sell, or who I would recommend him to.
I have now gone to another company because if lack of communication is like this at the beginning, how much hassel and stress would there be, to either get back goods if they didn't sell or even get paid!!!
