Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid IKEA Installation ServicesMy experience with IKEA's kitchen…

My experience with IKEA's kitchen installation service has been nothing short of a nightmare.
What should have been a straightforward kitchen installation turned into months of delays, contradictory information, missed expectations, and a complete lack of accountability. The first installation team visited in February and claimed that only a few tiles needed to be removed before they could proceed. We immediately completed the requested work and waited nearly two months for the next appointment. When the second team finally arrived, they did absolutely nothing and informed us that, contrary to what we had previously been told, all the tiles had to be removed and electrical outlets relocated.
This shocking level of miscommunication between IKEA's installation teams caused significant delays and unnecessary expenses. We followed every instruction given, only to discover later that those instructions were incomplete or simply wrong.
To make matters worse, after months of waiting and repeated attempts to obtain assistance, IKEA failed to provide any practical solution. I received no meaningful response to my formal complaints, despite the serious disruption caused. Living abroad, I had to purchase flights and reorganize my schedule multiple times in an attempt to oversee the project. The property was already rented out, creating additional financial losses due to the delays.
Eventually, because of the urgency of the situation and IKEA's inability to complete the job, I was forced to hire independent carpenters and plumbers at my own expense to finish the installation. These professionals immediately discovered further issues, including missing installation instructions, missing accessories required for assembly, and missing structural components needed to properly complete the kitchen.
The apartment was also left in a disorderly condition after IKEA's previous visits, adding further frustration to an already unacceptable situation.
The most insulting part of this entire experience came at the end: after months of inconvenience, additional costs, wasted time, poor communication, and a kitchen installation service that IKEA never actually completed, the company offered compensation of only €120 — not even as a cash refund, but as an IKEA store voucher.
Offering a €120 voucher after causing months of delays, forcing customers to hire external professionals, incur travel expenses, and suffer financial losses demonstrates a complete lack of respect for customers and no real understanding of the consequences of IKEA's failures.
This has been by far the worst customer service and installation experience I have ever encountered. I would strongly advise anyone considering IKEA's installation services to think very carefully before proceeding.

The very same day of the delivery, two hours within the time range they said they would come, all of a sudden they messaged that the delivery was cancelled. No explanation, no solution, nothing. Just a message that I should wait for them to call me to establish a new date. I crossed the Atlantic ocean to have this kitchen delivered. I can't wait for ever Ikea. I have been reading so many negative comments, what a track record. Incredible you are so successful.

Catastrophic behaviour and zero reaction to complains

Catastrophic behaviour and customer service below zero: on April 4th bought online furniture with delivery in Salerno Ikea. Order was rejected by Ikea itself on the same day. Money (almost 4000) were paid via e-banking and still are not refunded, despite of all efforts, letters, calls and even flights to Italy and visit to Ikea. I am not sure it is legal to Ikea to keep the money for canceled order for two months. I have called 3 times the Customer Service at 0236020069, and they told that money will be returned in one week. The number is hopeless, they even did not check real situation and the problem. I also contacted the e-mail provided for english speaking customers, and never received the response. IKEA customer service, please stop advising me to call the same phone number which is useless - contact me, you have my contacts, and report how you are dealing with situation and send the proving documents. It is already looking as abusing of the customer money.

Ikea's ok

Ikea's ok. They're lowkey the largest furniture warehouse where I live and sell a lot with a nice variety. But like it takes a while to deliver and they're hard to carry. Sometimes cant even fit through my door. And also, not cheap. I really only like it cuz I like to do interior designing on the Ikea kreativ and the food.

Terrible service delivery and customer service

Everything from delivery to missing parts I phoned up about delivery first about the grumpy drivers I paid £40 for delivery shocking service driver said don't deliver only first floor I was on second and I helped him and then he said we don't deliver over fist floor I told him I told them in store he said they don't care but we don't deliver any just then first
And then there was part missing and then we got told when you buy in store they don't tell you that you have to buy middle part of the bed so you don't fall through them phoned to complain what a load of gob shite never again not sorry not a refund shocking my advice don't buy from IKEA any beds wardrobes draws anything I would not buy again and the bed came damaged what a load of firewood I would give no stars but had to give 1 to send this post

Absolute horrible experience

Delivery came on time which was fine, but honestly the experience after that was really disappointing. I paid for delivery and live on the 5th floor with lift access, so I expected the boxes to at least be brought to my apartment door.

The order had 4 heavy boxes and when I asked if they could bring them upstairs, they said no because they had another delivery to do. I even had to beg them just to bring the boxes to the lift, and one of the guys replied “are you serious?” which I found really rude.

In the end they only left it at the lift area and I still had to drag the heavy boxes myself through doors and hallways to my apartment. I understand people are busy, but I paid for a delivery service for a reason. Really disappointed with the attitude and lack of help from IKEA.

I got lost

My daughter purchased a chest of…

My daughter purchased a chest of drawers from IKEA CROYDON for her new flat and paid £40 for delivery. They did not arrive on the day specified. She received no notice or explanation from them. They did not come the next day or the day after that! She ended up ringing them and they said they were experiencing some problems but did not offer an apology or further explanation.
They have completely LET HER DOWN! IKEA CROYDON is absolutely useless. They don’t have the right to call themselves professionals.

I received a broken product.

I bought a shoe rack on March 15th that arrived broken. I tried contacting the store and requesting an exchange through the website, but it didn't work.I went straight to the store closest to my house with the product and they said they didn't do exchanges there, and to call. I've tried calling countless times and no one answers. Now I've come here to see if anyone can help me.

aggressive male staff

Male staff (Name: Lars) purposefully walking into female aggressively - directly into their path when they’re walking to an item and there’s an entire floor of empty space / nobody around so they could have just walked around then behaving like thugs - then getting rude, raising their voice across the store and shouting at females to calm down for expressing they didn’t appreciate being walked into and stared at by someone that behaves like they should be in a Netflix documentary is disturbing for ikea. No apology in sight. Terrible experience, the incident is on camera and a formal complaint has been made. Telling women to “calm down” repeatedly and refusing to move away from them is misogyny at its finest. I have no doubt that behaving so aggressively so openly will not be an isolated incident and you’ll show your colours again soon. Hopefully Ikea see sense and remove someone like you from their family store asap. And just an FYI when you are abusive to women they don’t have to be meak and polite back. This is not gilead. Good news is I’ll have the cctv to share online soon though Lars ;)

Extremely disappointed with the level…

Extremely disappointed with the level of service from this company. I was hung up on when I called, and given incorrect delivery dates on more than one occasion.
When I tried to raise a formal complaint, I was told complaints are handled internally with no feedback given to customers. There is no transparency, no acknowledgement, and no way to escalate your concerns. As a customer, you are simply left in the dark.
This is not how a modern, reputable company should operate. I have since contacted the CEO directly to ask whether a proper complaints process even exists. I am still waiting for a response.
I would caution anyone considering using this company to think carefully before doing so.

Extremely Poor Delivery Experience – Unprofessional and Disrespectful - ORDER ID - 1598493128

This was my first experience with IKEA (Milton Keynes, United Kingdom) delivery, and unfortunately, it was extremely disappointing.

I was given a delivery window of 08:00–12:00, yet the driver called just after 07:00 on a bank holiday saying they had arrived. When I asked for a few minutes due to a prior commitment, I was told they would call back — they never did, and instead drove off.

After I called them back, they claimed they were trying to find my address, despite having just been outside my house moments earlier.

When they returned, I asked a simple question about why the delivery appeared to be for a different house number. Instead of answering professionally, one of the delivery staff responded in a condescending tone, repeatedly calling me “dude” and dismissing my concern.

When I politely asked for professionalism, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The drivers then sat in their van, made calls falsely claiming I was being abusive, and left without completing the delivery.

To make matters worse, they stated, “We don’t work for IKEA,” which raises serious concerns about accountability and customer service standards.

Overall, this was a frustrating and unacceptable experience. I expected much better from IKEA (UK)

I hope IKEA reviews the conduct of its delivery partners and takes steps to ensure customers are treated with basic respect and professionalism.

Decades of Continued excellence

I love IKEA! They get it right. I’ve purchased 7 rooms of furniture plus countless decor and accessory pieces. I’m probably an expert on putting together their bookshelves, dressers, tables and more. I’ve rarely had an issue with anything I’ve built. The pieces are precision and innovative! I have only had one return, of a lounge chair that just didn’t feel right for my body. But when I took it back, even their Customer Service was absolutely outstanding!! No questions. Easy on the spot refund. I’ve used their delivery service also for things that wouldn’t fit in my car. It was worth every penny. They showed up exactly on time and brought it just inside my entry way as I asked. The mattresses are a tenth of what I paid for my last one at a big mattress chain. and they’ve held up better than any I’ve owned. I’m an older, retired woman and can still easily assemble their pieces. My kids took their bedrooms pieces with them as they left home because they held up for years and years. I’m very thankful for IKEA stores and the quality that has not disappointed since they came to our town decades ago.

It is not the fault of Ikea but the customers fault !

We used the Ikea video call system to work with an Ikea advisor to design a run of wardrobes with sliding doors and one hinged door with the same cabinet height across the full width.
The hinged door although described as the same "Grimo" style turned out to be 15mm shorter in height.
I contacted customer service and spoke with Don who told me the doors were not from the same range even though both sliding and hinged doors were described as "Grimo". At no time during the design were we told the door heights would not be matching.
It turns out that in the opinion of Ikea that the mismatch is my fault for not checking the door dimensions prior to placing the order.
Do not use this company as they have no ethics or accountability.

Demaged wall by delivery team - not reimboursed

purchased an IKEA sofa, including delivery and assembly. The delivery team clearly damaged the wall while carrying the boxes into my home, to the point that they even added a note saying “damaged wall” on the delivery slip.

I filed a complaint with IKEA, attaching photos and a copy of the delivery document. Their response was that, according to the delivery team, the wall was already damaged, and they offered a refund of only one third of the delivery cost.

The wall was not damaged beforehand, and I have internal security camera footage that clearly shows the damage caused by the delivery team — footage I did not initially share because I trusted in the good faith of the people delivering the packages.

For a large company like IKEA, it is unacceptable to be so stingy with compensation and to risk losing a customer who, until recently, had been loyal.

1 star because nothing lower. I made an order - on corner sofa-Holmsund and after few days a part of the order cancelled, when enquired, they want either to cancel my entire order, or wait for the part that got out of stock!

Quality dropped significantly

I ordered a table and chairs in January. First, one chair came with rusty screws and hinges, but they sent a new one, ok. But now I've started noticing that there are weird marks on the table that don't follow a pattern, I don't think it was like this. I've contacted their customer service, they said they would replace it and that they would call me for details. First of all, I've never been recontacted. Secondly, I don't even have time or desire for them to come over, dismantle the table, bring a new one for us to assemble. It's extra headache for us. All I want to say that their quality has decreased significantly. Probably won't bother again ordering from them
