Needed an emergency dentist for my…

Needed an emergency dentist for my daughter today (Sunday) because she had a severe tooth ache. Had to pay £75 up front on a debit card to book an appointment. She left after 20 mins with a box of antibiotics (£25) after having an Xray (£25). The final bill was £125. I understand that dentists aren't able to carry out work if there is infection. It does beg the question, how many people with raging tooth ache, don't have infection and therefore whats the purpose of an 'emergency' dentist. Somewhere to get antibiotics and confirmation of infection for £125 i suppose. She was advise that once the infection had been treated she should visit a 'consultant' for possibly a root canal. Silly me for thinking that i was sending her to somebody capable of offering that as part of a 'long term' care plan with fair pricing. Just thought people should know the situation if you are thinking of going to the emergency dentist here. It's £75 just to sit in the chair.
