No response to emails when it comes to getting a refund
I’ve been a loyal customer for over 6 years. The service itself was decent, despite a few bugs. However, when it comes to cancelling and getting a refund, communication is non-existent.
I’ve reached out to their official support address at least six times with zero response. I even tried contacting their marketing team twice—only to receive an automated reply followed by complete silence.

Avoid. Customer service that doesn't help and a billing system that doesn't work
I've dealt with a lot of software companies, and Genially's customer service is the worst I've come across.
I was billed unfairly, which looks like a fault in their system. I contacted support to get it sorted, and they replied promising to help. Then nothing happened. After waiting with no resolution, I had no choice but to open a dispute through PayPal to get my money back.
When Genially finally got back to me, they told me that because I'd started action through PayPal, there was nothing they could do. That's the same team that had already promised in writing to help me. They had every chance to fix this before it got that far and didn't take it. Then they used the dispute as a reason to walk away from the problem.
My experience left me with the impression that this company cares about taking payments, not about looking after the people who make them.
If you need interactive content, look elsewhere. H5P is free and does much the same job. It may not be as flashy, but it works, and you won't be left fighting over a bill.
My advice: stay away from Genially.

The Pro plan can be purchased with either monthly or annual billing. In this case, the annual billing option was selected during the purchase process, which resulted in the annual charge.
When you contacted us, our team confirmed that monthly billing was available and explained how to switch to that option. We also asked you to contact us from the email address associated with the premium subscription. This verification is necessary before we can make changes to a subscription or process a refund, as it helps us protect our users’ accounts and billing information.
We regret that the process was not completed before you felt it necessary to open a dispute through PayPal. Once a payment dispute is initiated, however, the transaction is handled directly through the payment provider’s dispute process. At that point, we can no longer issue a separate refund or make changes to that transaction from our side while the dispute is being handled.
We understand how frustrating this sequence of events has been and are sorry that your experience with our Support team did not meet your expectations. We hope this provides some additional context around the purchase, the verification we requested, and why we were unable to process the refund directly once the PayPal dispute had been opened.

Over 1 TB of unused storage—but Genially wants me to pay for more
I have used Genially extensively to build a substantial library of approximately 1,000 interactive lessons. Unfortunately, its restrictive storage system, inflexible upgrades and dismissive customer support have made the platform commercially unworkable for my business.
My account already includes more than 1 TB of completely unused storage allocated “for students.” However, I have no way to access or use this capacity for my content. Instead, Genially requires me to purchase additional “admin storage”—despite more than 1 TB of storage sitting unused within the same account.
My problem is storage, not the number of users. Genially’s proposed solution is for me to upgrade to an Edu360 plan with five seats at approximately €75 per month, even though I require only three. I would therefore be forced to pay for two unnecessary seats simply to obtain more admin storage.
I also attempted to reduce my current Genius subscription to three seats and then upgrade those three seats to Edu360. Genially’s system would not permit that either. There is no practical option to purchase additional admin storage independently or transfer any of the substantial unused student storage already included in my account.
I contacted Genially repeatedly and explained the issue in detail. However, their emails have not meaningfully addressed the points I raised or offered a workable solution. My concerns have simply been dismissed with “as I already said”-type responses that repeat the existing restrictions rather than engage with the actual problem.
I am willing to pay for the storage I genuinely need. I am not asking for free capacity. However, being required to purchase unnecessary seats and more storage while over 1 TB remains unused and inaccessible within my account is unreasonable.
This model compares very poorly with competing platforms. Canva, for example, offers 1 TB of storage per user on its Teams plan for around £10 per user. Genially’s proposed option would cost more than twice as much while providing only a fraction of the usable storage.
The creative tools themselves are valuable, but I cannot recommend Genially to teachers, schools or businesses that need to build a large, long-term content library. The storage allocation is impractical, the upgrade system is needlessly rigid, and customer support has failed to engage properly with a legitimate business concern.
After investing considerable time creating around 1,000 interactive resources, I am now being forced to consider moving my entire library to another platform.
I do not recommend, unless major storage limitations are resolved.

As discussed during our conversations, student storage and workspace storage are currently separate and can't be combined or transferred. Our plans are designed with a fixed set of features and storage allocations, which means we aren't able to offer customized storage options, "à la carte" add-ons, or exceptions to how storage is allocated or how plans are structured. We understand this isn't the flexibility you were hoping for, but these limitations apply consistently across all workspaces.
We're also sorry to read that your experience with our support team didn't meet your expectations. Our intention was to provide the clearest information available based on the current functionality, while ensuring your feedback and suggestions were shared internally with the relevant teams for consideration.
