First American Home Warranty has been…
First American Home Warranty has been extremely frustrating and disappointing to deal with.
I filed a claim for my built-in Whirlpool ice maker. First, they assigned Moore Appliance Repair, but that contractor did not show up. Then they assigned VIP Appliance Repair, and that contractor also did not show up. Throughout the process, communication was poor, and I had to keep following up to find out what was going on.
After all of that, I was told multiple times that First American was sending a replacement ice maker. I was led to believe the replacement was approved and being handled. Then the information changed, and I was told the replacement exceeded their limit and that I would only receive the $1,000 aggregate limit instead.
The problem is not just the limit. The problem is the lack of communication, contractors not showing up, and being given incorrect or inconsistent information. If the claim was capped, that should have been clearly explained from the beginning instead of repeatedly telling me a new ice maker was being sent.
This experience has made me seriously question the value of this warranty. I would strongly recommend anyone considering First American Home Warranty read the fine print carefully, get everything in writing, and do not rely on verbal updates from their representatives
