Wedding Ruiner

If you’re thinking about ordering from Dolly Gown, don’t. Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve had with an online clothing company.

The dress that arrived looked nothing like the photos—cheap material, poor stitching, and the fit was completely off. It felt mass-produced and low quality, not the premium item they make it out to be online.

Delivery was delayed with no proper communication, and customer service was painful to deal with—slow, unhelpful, and full of generic responses that didn’t actually resolve anything. Trying to arrange a return was just as bad, with unclear instructions and no accountability.

What made it even worse is that we had to escalate things through PayPal and pursue a Section 75-style claim just to try and get our money back. That process took time, effort, and multiple pieces of evidence because the company simply wouldn’t take responsibility or issue a proper refund. You shouldn’t have to go through financial dispute channels just to be treated fairly as a customer.

Overall, a really disappointing and frustrating experience from start to finish. Save yourself the hassle and avoid.

They refused to take the dress back…

They refused to take the dress back even though it was a stock size according to their website. They offered $30 on a $170 purchase for hemming. The dress is ill-fitting in many more ways than the length though.

AVOID THIS RETAILER

IF YOU LIVE IN THE UK I advise you to think twice before purchasing from Dolly Gown, even if you use PayPal.

I bought a dress for my daughter on 8th September. Today, 13th Decrmber, I finally received a refund through PayPal, having to dispute the transaction and then raise a claim.

On DG website it makes returning an item sound simple. It is not. I spent £133 and when we received the dress we were so disappointed in the quality.

I contacted the website using the email address given on the site on September 27th. It took 4 more emails and complaining through Shop before they contacted me on October 6th saying they had been on a long holiday......

I told them The tulle fabric was not cut neatly, and there were little pieces of tulle flapping about. The owner told me that all tulle fabric cuts like this. That is blatantly not true.

She first offered me £30 refund then £50. That was no use as the dress was not suitable quality.

I had to go through the PayPal dispute and claim process. It's lengthy and you have to provide a lot of evidence. Luckily I had it all.

Oh and I had to pay to return it myself, tracked to China, just over £20

It's been stressful. If I had known that returning and getting a refund would be so difficult I would not have bought from this site.

I would not describe the dress we received as being 'lovingly made' like they claim each dress is on their website.

Avoid at all costs. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I also don't like feeling cheated.

Sketchy At Best

I only got confirmation that my dress is being sent out after I opened a case with my bank to dispute the charge. I was trying to contact for a month prior to disputing without any success. I'm unsure of what this dress is actually going to look like, and I don't really have high hopes, given that it took getting my bank involved to get any kind of response.

I wouldn't recommend to buy on Dollygown!

On their website, they say it is possible to return. I followed every rule from their return policy: I asked the return in time and I am willing to pay the shipping charges.

I don't want the dress I bought because it didn't fit me at all!

Still, they deny my return request.
Conclusion: I wouldn't recommend this website.

Stolen images

Same experience as the other reviewer; using my images without permission to sell a dress they did not make!
Scam website!

Absolute scam website

Absolute scam website. Has somehow obtained my wedding photos and is using them without my knowledge or permission. My dress is certainly not from them.
