Extremely Disappointing Experience – Elderly Relative Mistreated
An elderly family member of ours, over 80 years old and speaking very limited English, visited a Carpet-Center store in Greece while on a cruise excursion. Despite her language barrier and limited financial means (she lives on a small pension), she was somehow persuaded to purchase a carpet costing over €10,000 for just 3.2m².
She paid €2,000 on the spot, under the impression this was the full price. Only later did she begin receiving repeated calls from the store’s customer service asking her to pay the remaining amount—something she was entirely unaware of and never agreed to.
Carpet Center's representative, Mr. N. Talat, has refused to take any responsibility for the inappropriate sale, despite clear ethical concerns around selling such a high-priced item to a vulnerable senior who could not understand the terms.
They have also refused to cancel the transaction or refund the initial €2,000. We find this deeply unprofessional and disappointing. This experience has left us feeling that the trust one expects when shopping—especially with elderly tourists—was gravely violated.
Carpet-Centre is a Turkish brand, don't buy there!
