Disappointing Experience with Big Bus London Tour

My daughter and I were excited for our London Big Bus Tour on Saturday, November 9th, 2024. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations, and we left feeling extremely disappointed.

On the morning of our tour, Big Bus emailed us about major disruptions to the route due to the Lord Mayor’s Show and the War Widows event. This message came so late that it was impossible to change our plans. As a result, we spent the majority of the tour sitting in heavy traffic, which meant we saw very few sights and couldn't enjoy the usual hop-on-hop-off flexibility.

The onboard commentary added to the disappointment. It didn’t align with what we were seeing due to all the diversions, and to make matters worse, the recording was dull and played at such a low volume that we could barely hear it. Any hopes of learning about London’s history and landmarks were dashed.

In the end, this was not the immersive or enjoyable experience we had anticipated.

Invaluable service but too expensive

Big Bus London is VERY expensive for what you get. But as a tourist, I found the bus lines invaluable.

The pre-recorded audio was OK. Unfortunately no option for live commentary even for the night tour.

We went on the Big Bus walking tour called ‘The Royal Walk’ with tour guide ‘Big Steve’ and our experience exceeded our expectations as Steve’s guiding was full of humour and interesting quips about the many historical sights we visited.

"" The red brick 4 storey building approaching on your right was built in ____, by ____, for ____, in the Edwardian/Victorian style. Today its residents are private/embassy/??? Other interesting facts are it survived through the Blitz/earthquake/flooding/fires/sacking. If you look closely you can see the damaged stonework blah, blah etc etc.
DO BETTER GUYS... Hope my Dublin tour next week is better.

Commentary doesn’t match location

We are approaching tower bridge and the commentary is talking about Shakespeare’s Globe! We are no where near that! I thought we were just out of sync but then it talked about London Bridge! Lot’s of music that could be filled with more history or pointing out of historical buildings like the boys school - the people with us were very confused asking were landmarks were since commentary was not aligned. Very disappointed!

Brahim saved the day

Brahim saved the day - super helpful assistant, solved my boating issue when we got to the Thames. I cannot thank Brahim enough - he really made it worth it for us.

Thank you.
PS Great tour!

Overloaded on both floors

Overloaded on both floors, people standing because all seats are busy. Waiting time more than 20 minutes.
Not recommend, choose another company if you want a good experience from your journey.

If I could give a minus rating I would. The four of us were ripped off majorly. Advised that the buses don't go off till 8pm. Nope they go off at 6.30pm. £152 paid at 4.30pm 20 minutes wait for the bus. Terrible tour..got off and walked seen more of the tourist attractions. Book another tour bus!!

There is a lack of big buses in London compared to other hop-on-hop-off bus services. Although I had a London pass, the Big Bus was still a negative experience.
