I had a minor accident with a Getaround…
I had a minor accident with a Getaround car during a rental in March 2026. Nothing dramatic — the lower body panel was damaged.
I accepted responsibility and paid the costs. In May, Getaround already charged me €504.85 + €45 in claim management fees, so almost €550 for the incident.
And now, 7 months after the rental, they have suddenly charged me another €395.15 for the exact same claim.
The most ridiculous part? My Getaround account actually shows the claim as “CLOSED.”
So let me get this straight: I already paid almost €550, the claim was closed, and then months later Getaround comes back and takes another €395 from my account without any clear explanation.
I honestly feel like they are trying to squeeze as much money as possible out of me, hoping the customer won’t question it.
I’ve asked them to provide a proper breakdown, invoices and an explanation of why this additional amount is being charged seven months later. We’ll see if they can actually justify it.
Be extremely careful with Getaround and their insurance/claim process. A minor accident can apparently turn into additional charges months later, with very little transparency.
Very disappointing experience. I will definitely not use Getaround again.

DO NOT BOOK WITH GETAROUND
Our Auschwitz-Birkenau tour was cancelled **less than 24 hours before it was supposed to happen**. We were already in Kraków and had planned our entire day around this visit.
We contacted customer service expecting them to fix the situation. Instead, we were basically told, “Too bad, nothing we can do.” They wouldn't arrange another tour during the days we were actually in Kraków.
And then we saw comparable tours being sold for **around 3x what we had originally paid**.
I don't know exactly what is going on behind the scenes, but it certainly doesn't look good. Cancel someone's inexpensive booking at the last minute and then leave them with expensive alternatives? Seriously?
The customer service was completely useless.
**Avoid Getaround. Book directly through the museum or find a reputable operator.**
