Louis was very professional and helpful. Thank Louis for your assistance!
my customer service rep was extremely knowledgeable and was a pleasure to talk to. She answered my questions and I’m completely satisfied with my call.
Excellent sales pitch, but beware the hidden $2,000 HVAC cap and low-ball settlement trap.
Like many customers, I was initially impressed by Liberty Home Guard’s high ratings, which are heavily front-loaded during the onboarding and sales process. However, the true test of a home warranty company happens when a major system actually fails.
When my HVAC system went out, I learned how their claims process really works:
They hide a rigid $2,000 payout cap for HVAC replacements in their fine print—far below competitive standards like American Home Shield ($5,000) or First American (unlimited).
Instead of honoring a full resolution, they attempted to force a low-ball cash deduction agreement ($2,200) that left me facing thousands in out-of-pocket costs, while demanding I sign away my rights under the time coercion of suffering in the Texas heat.
Because of these misleading practices and refusal to honor fair claim values, I have had to formally escalate this matter through state and federal regulatory channels. My claim is now actively documented under Better Business Bureau Complaint ID 25388360 and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) Tracking #0000039044 (LHG Texas License #188).
Read your contract fine print line by line before trusting their advertised star ratings. There are far more transparent home warranty providers out there.

The person was very straight forward and explained everything.
Avoid using Liberty Home Guard at all costs this is a terrible company to work with!! Any kind of issue takes forever to resolve and there's nothing you can do to expedite the process!

Had a clogged and leaky kitchen sink. Contractor who came out, quoted $680 to snake it and replace a small piece of pipe that was easily accesible through the trap door in the basement ceiling. I called someone else because i didn't believe that such a small job would be that expensive. Other Guy snaked it for $100, no clog, no leak, kitchen sink is perfect. It's not the warranties company fault, but maybe you need to vet contractors better. The contractor didn't even take the time to really inspect the issue. Snapped a few pictures and thar was it. It's a shame that i had to pay $70 service fee for this. It's a shame, to say the least. I understand that other warranty companies may have similar issues, that's why Im debating if it's even worth having warranty. Might be time to cancel it and put the money in an account for when things go wrong. Extremely disappointed!!!

I was reimbursed for the full amount of the technician of my choice to come out and repair my plumbing after I was dissatisfied with the result from the plumber they sent out.

I felt valued as a customer following my previous review. I received a call from a Customer Services Manager, who wanted to hear about my experience. He offered me a resolution which I was extremely satisfied with. It seems that there was a misunderstanding.

Everything. It started with my 1st claim. I did not know about the 70.00 per claim fee was that told that when I purchased the warranty plan. Then on top of the 70.00 fee there is a 150.00-dollar diagnostic fee that is applied to your claim, and they don't cover your repair only a percentage of the cost of the repair. My first claim was for plumbing small claim for a leaking faucet. I was sent an email with name of plumber. I was told the plumber's name. I was told my service provider was David Richard Hollifield but that's not who showed up at my door. I asked the young man if he worked for David Hollifield, he told me he had no idea who David Hollifield was. Then I got a call from Sean with Liberty and allowed this guy to do a diagnostic of the issue, he wanted to take pictures of the leaking faucet ok then he proceeded to tell me he did not have time to fix the problem and would need to come back next day. Sean confirmed he would return on Saturday at 9am. When I called Saturday because no one showed up, they said that I needed to speak to a resolution team now it gets interesting. Resolution team tried to commit me to a contract for the repairs telling me that it would cost 590.65 but because My warranty that I purchased in June of 2026 was only 88 days active at this time Sept. 24th, 2026, and they would only pay a percentage of repair claim 250.00 and I would be responsible for 340.65. Still at this point I was not informed of the 150.00 diagnostic fee. I only found out about that when I decided to cancel the warranty due to miss representation on part of provider Liberty Home Guard and I felt they put me in jeopardy sending a stranger to my home and telling me it was someone else. They still proceeded to charge me the 150.00 diagnostic fee, and it was a bill from David Richard Hollified, they owe me that back because David Richard Hollifield never came to my home. Now a leaking faucet is costing me 560.00 out of pocket, I already paid 3000.00 for the home warranty. I sure you can understand why I canceled my warranty policy with Liberty Home Guard, and I would not recommend this company to no one. Now sure how they got rated number one in home warranty by news nation or anyone for that matter. My guess is New Nation is an investor is this company. If they are number one, then I don't nothing to do with Home Warranty Policies if this is the example they follow. Worst customer service, they don't answer the phone unless you are failing a claim, leave you on hold or the call hangs up. If you opt for a call back, they never return your calls. Worst company I have dealt with. No, I would not recommend Liberty Home Guard .

Don't be fooled by the almost perfect 5 star rating!!
I've had 3 LHG policies for over 4 years and after multiple claims, I can tell you that they are not worth the headache.
My experience with LHG and why I advise against using their services.
- Long Wait Times: It typically takes 2 to 4 weeks for them to repair, replace, or deny a claim.
- Unqualified Technicians: They often use inexperienced and sometimes unlicensed technicians.
- Fine Print Exclusions: Their contract's fine print excludes them from covering most claims, often limiting coverage to very specific portions of an appliance or system, or including clauses to minimize payouts.
- Hidden Costs: Even if a repair or replacement is approved, installation costs are usually not included.
- Unhelpful Customer Service: Representatives follow a script and lack actual knowledge about specific claims. Their "Sr Managers" and Supervisors are just the same. Common sense or active listening does not exist with any of them. You'll have to explain you dissatisfaction 5-10 times and they still will ignore your facts and just use theirs are justification to deny/lower your claim amount.
- Deceptive Practices: They mislead customers into believing their home systems and appliances are fully covered when they are not.
- Inflated Ratings: They boost their online ratings by prompting new customers for 5-star reviews immediately after purchase, which drowns out the negative reviews from customers who have actually experienced their service.
- D+ rating by the Better Business Bureau because "BBB files indicate a Pattern of Complaints regarding the claims process, customer service, and sales tactics"

Before purchasing a Liberty Home Guard (LHG) policy, consumers should carefully review how claim approvals, replacement quotes, maintenance record demands, and settlement agreements operate in practice.
I paid $749.99 for my policy and filed two claims during my term:
Pest Control Claim (Administrative Hurdles): After I paid a $100 claim fee, LHG stated by phone that no in-network contractor was available for weeks and instructed me to find my own. However, local contractors either required upfront estimate/inspection fees just to write a quote for LHG’s approval or refused to wait on hold for LHG’s real-time authorization before starting work. Because LHG’s process created an impractical barrier with local trades, I abandoned the claim after six weeks. LHG refunded the $100 fee since no service was provided, but only after significant time was wasted.
2-Ton AC Compressor Failure (Marked-Up Quotes & Record Demands): When my AC compressor failed, the customer portal showed replacement options with an $1,800 contribution after verification by their network technician. However, the lowest Carrier option quoted in their portal was $12,354.86—requiring $10,554.86 out of pocket. This cost was driven by substantially marked-up equipment pricing alongside an unnecessary bundled furnace replacement.
During the review, LHG demanded 10 years of prior maintenance records, even though I had only purchased the home the previous year. When I requested to apply their $1,800 contribution as Cash-in-Lieu toward an independent repair, LHG refused, citing contract clauses that give them sole discretion over Cash-in-Lieu payouts and contractor selection.
Independent Real-World Cost: I hired an independent licensed HVAC contractor who confirmed the furnace was working fine and replaced the 2-ton Carrier condenser and matching coil for $5,500 total, which is less than half of LHG's portal figure.
Settlement & Release Tactics: After I filed complaints with state regulators and the BBB, a full policy refund was offered after multiple negotiations. However, payment was conditioned on signing an unmodifiable agreement requiring pre-payment deletion of all regulatory complaints and public reviews, third-party indemnification, confidentiality, and New York legal jurisdiction. I declined to sign away my consumer rights.
