c'était le deuxième fois que j'ai suivi un cours de français a les Ateliers á Biarritz. I was very satisfied with my experience both times.
Guilhem, Manon, and Léa were great. Alexandra was a super teacher. She made the lessons very interesting and explained everything very clearly. and Didier ws a great golf coach!
The quality of teaching
The quality of teaching, the organization and flexibility of course and location are great. The building could use some planning improvements and repolishing!
Je recommande vraiment l'école
I would definitely recommend the school. The classes and the interactions between students and teachers are amazing. The study materials, organization, and online support help not only during the period we are enrolled, but also afterwards. The cultural activities are very interesting for discovering the local culture, socializing with friends, and they are also another great way to learn the language.
I would like to thank the entire team at LES ATELIERS – NICE for making me feel at home. The life of an immigrant is often very lonely, and at the school I truly felt at home. Whenever I needed help—whether with simple or more complicated matters—everyone was always very helpful. This experience helped me not only with the language, but also in building friendships and networking with classmates and teachers.
The school's location makes daily life much easier; it's close to restaurants, bakeries, and bus stops.

Review of au pair group B1-B2
I thought the au pair programme was a very good idea to connect au pairs around the city, I’ve made many friends from this! I also like that it is 2 days a week so it is not too intense. Although I think the division of levels could have been better. We were all on very different levels in the B1-B2 group. Since that was the case I suppose that is why we did many different grammar and different oral exercises, but for me it was a bit too many different things that we just touched on and did not dive further into. Personally, I would have liked less variation and more thorough work on the topics we did.

Recommendable, but with room for improvement
I had a good time at the school, also the provided accommodation (The Social Hub) can be recommended. All the organisational stuff was easily handled. However, my classmates had very deviating levels of French. Some would have belonged in a lower level, for others a course with a higher level should have been set up. It would have been a better experience had there been a course for students in between B1 and B2.
Great experience with Les Ateliers - Highly recommend!
If you are looking for a highly engaging French course, led by a wonderful and warm team, sign up for classes with Les Ateliers!
I came in to sign up for classes at the last minute, and Les Atelier was more than welcoming and accommodating, getting me into classes right away without any delays. From the moment I arrived, I noted the warmth and helpfulness of the staff.
Sarah was a wonderful teacher, and I had a great time on our weekly 'out of the classroom' adventures. She effortlessly stimulated and supported conversation in class amongst the students, giving us all ample opportunities to practice speaking, and struck the perfect (to me) balance between helping us with answers and letting us puzzle it out for ourselves.
The rest of the team was also great - everyone at the front desk and the other teachers were very friendly, and I found myself looking forward to attending the activities Sofia organized every week. Sofia did a great job at making sure we were all engaged and having fun during the activities, and also picked activities that were very useful in practicing our French (like going to the Natural History museum, which helped us learn animal names in French).
Overall, a great experience - I wish I could have stayed longer!

My experience in Nice with LES ATELIERS was truly AMAZING!
My experience in Nice with LES ATELIERS FL was absolutely wonderful! The teachers were fantastic! Always kind, patient, and very dedicated to helping each student improve their French. The school has an excellent structure, with modern facilities and a very welcoming atmosphere.
The location is perfect, right in the heart of Nice, which makes it easy to enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches, restaurants, and cultural life after classes. I met incredible people from all over the world and felt truly motivated every day.
I highly recommend this school to anyone who wants to learn French in an inspiring environment and experience the best of the French Riviera!
Great French learning experience
Great French learning experience. Very knowledgeable and competent teacher who managed to balance a class of differing French knowledge and ability, making sure everyone was learning and had an opportunity to talk and practice.

Disappointed
I booked a two-week intensive French course (level B2) at Les Ateliers FL in Paris for just over €1,000. The course was divided into two parts: mornings from 9:00 to 12:15 and afternoons from 1:30 to 3:00. I had one teacher (woman) in the morning who is very engaged in climate and environmental topics and another (man) in the afternoon. The morning sessions included a short 15-minute break.
I had been really looking forward to this intensive course. The school’s location in the 8th arrondissement is lovely — there are plenty of nearby bistros and cafés for lunch or for a pleasant walk during the break. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, although the furniture could use an update.
The afternoon teacher was an excellent one. He’s clearly very experienced, has travelled widely, and teaches with a great mix of humor and solid expertise. His lessons were engaging, varied, and highly effective — I learned a lot from him and felt my French improved noticeably.
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the morning class teacher. For two weeks straight, we focused almost exclusively on environmental and climate-related topics. While these are certainly important issues, I had signed up to improve my French, not to learn more about recycling or waste separation.
Each week included an excursion with the morning class. In the first week, we visited an alternative supermarket (a cooperative), and in the second, a community space in a former train station that featured a restaurant and café serving only local, seasonal products — along with a small “recycling” area complete with chickens, compost bins, homegrown vegetables, and insect houses. Both visits were in the 18th arrondissement, and honestly, old jeans and sneakers would have been more appropriate than a blazer!
I care deeply about environmental issues myself, but this was supposed to be a language course. Knowing the names of endangered species or how to donate used clothes doesn’t help me much in my daily life or work in France. I would have much preferred to learn about French society and culture — topics like the healthcare and pension systems, elections, the impact of centralization, architecture, fashion, the luxury industry, cinema, or French cuisine. France has so many fascinating subjects to explore; it’s a shame we spent two weeks on just one.
She did say we could suggest topics, but honestly, for a course costing over €1,000, I expect a structured and coherent curriculum, not to have to plan lessons myself. Every morning she asked what we had done the previous afternoon and evening, and at the end of each class she asked what we would do later that day — meaning we repeated the same things twice daily. It felt like a waste of valuable class time. The breaks also tended to run long, and we often finished about 10 minutes early because she had already packed up. Altogether, we lost roughly half an hour of instruction time each day.
It was also a bit unprofessional that she handed out her personal business card (not the school’s) to students finishing their course, which gave the impression she was promoting private lessons. The teaching method was repetitive — usually a short text about an environmental topic followed by a related YouTube video or audio clip. When we asked grammar or vocabulary questions, she often couldn’t explain and instead googled the answer and read it aloud from the screen.
Overall, I cannot recommend the morning course (I would have switched if there had been another class at my level). It’s better to take a course with another teacher, even at a slightly lower level. However, I highly recommend the afternoon course and conversation class — both were excellent.
I had considered extending my stay for another week, but because of my disappointing experience in the morning class, I decided not to. For that reason, I can only give the school two stars.
Great experience: when language meets creativity
I have visited a one-week course (30 h). I have received all useful information prior to arrival and I felt very comfortable to be well prepared. I really enjoyed the week and especially the afternoon activity “Les Ateliers” because of its unusual format: it was a mix of different language levels and a lot of group work. Unfortunately I could stay only one week, maybe I’ll be back one day :)

Learning a language is an art of living
The time I spent in this school was a really a remembering and cherishing experience for me. The language course in french and teaching about the culture of France really enhanced my stay in Paris. The teacher was kind enough. At the same time she considers everyone in the class and she is very capable of handling our classes well. She is fluent in many languages. The school on the whole gave me a nice experience and I wish to continue the same spirit. Thank you once again.

A wonderful experience- learning French, cultural exchange, and lots of fun.
Our experience with the summer camp in Biarritz was excellent. The program was very well organized, and my daughter felt safe and well cared for throughout her stay. The host family was welcoming and friendly, which made her feel at home right away. The French lessons were interesting, the level of the groups was well-matched. The time after school was also well planned, with attractive activities and opportunities to spend time with other students. Surfing lessons were a special highlight, and the beautiful surroundings of Biarritz made the experience even better. My daughter participated for 1-week together with a friend, and she enjoyed it so much that she wants to return next year for 2-weeks.

Learning French in Bordeaux!
I attended a two-week intensive French course (30 hours/week) at Ateliers FL in Bordeaux and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. The warm and professional welcome, excellent teachers, and well-organized cultural activities made learning a joy. As a 50-year-old absolute beginner (A1), I felt fully included and supported, made great progress, and even made new friends from around the world. Highly recommended for anyone serious about learning French!
