Unhelpful staff - when you can find them- and they see you struggling and don't help at all especially the tall security guard (he's actually very rude). I won't shop here again

All staff were knowledgeable and customer orientated. The design process was excellent, as was the price. Having tried every over kitchen designer in the high street, I knew what I wanted and B and Q delivered at a very satisfactory standard and price.

Purchased Cosmos Pro Deluxe 4+1 Gas BBQ online from B&Q.. Be very aware that these purchases are via a third party seller which is far from clear when ordering..
It was the B&Q website, the confirmation email was from B&Q, it stated your order has been placed with B&Q and the follow up confirming including delivery was from B&Q.
The product is cheap made of poor quality tin to something, it is easily scratched when installed and it came with dents and scrapes already… parts also missing including cover, pizza plate and griddle..
Anyhow now the fun begins when you ring B&Q Customer Service they explain it has nothing to do with them as it was a third party seller..
The charge on the card was to B&Q it is B&Q responsible for the sale as they were the seller.. fibbing it off to a third party seller via the back door doesn’t work as my contract is with B&Q … they dispute they have any responsibility..

Couldn't find what I wanted
Called in for a door handle and impact adhesive. Found the handle, but couldn't find impact adhesive in the tube I wanted at all - only large tins of the stuff, and I don't get through that much of it to need a vast quantity. Didn't even seem to be a space for tube size products, so disappointed.
Cashier just shrugged when I asked.
Very bad experience with B&Q & Designer
Very bad experience with B&Q and B&Q designer getting the Atomia fitted wardrobe.
1. The tool did not allow the designer to fit in drawers in certain part. Designer insisted that it's just an issue with the tool and they can definitely be added. Now my builder is struggling to fit them in because the design does NOT allow them to be fitted in neatly. The designer mispoke
2. The designer insisted I can fit in a trouser pull out in a certain part of the wardrob despite the tool not allowing him to add it. Again he was wrong as the pull out requires 51cm and the space we have is 50 cm
3. The quality of the wardrobe overall is beyond poor
4. The top panel of one of the units came badly chipped and one of the screws is missing its shell. When I sent the pics to the designer, he shrugged his shoulders and told me to call customer service. B&Q don't even have a portal in which I can submit the photos and request a refund for the damaged items
I bought grass seed
I bought grass seed, the box was sent just in a plastic bag so it was battered around and most of the seed was loose inside the bag. The box was burst top and bottom.

Extremely Poor Delivery Service
There have been two occassions recently where I have used B&Q and both have been failures. The first is to order a bathroom which couldn't be installed until materials arrived. This is expected. What wasn't expected was the wasted three days of annual leave that I have taken to wait for the materials to be delivered only to be told, on the day l, that the delivery won't be coming and is delayed. This has happened on three seperate occassions. When querying this, there's been no explanation as to why the delay happened, no action taken, other than to rearrange the delivery. I've been reassured twice that the delivery of the materials will be with me on the next date without fail, only to book the day off and be let down again. The second is also shrrounding delivery. A fan was ordered online for "next day" click and collect. I visited the store only to be told that it won't arrive until the following day. This at the start of a heatwave. I've asked why the site advertised next-day to be met with the response that maybe the wording is slightly wrong. I'm extremely disappointed and reevaluating my use of B&Q as well as whether or not I would like to move ahead with the narhroom at all. So far, complaints and expressions of disatisfaction, especially with the dwlivery service, have fallen on deaf ears
I went to the store to purchase a Grout…
I went to the store to purchase a Grout refresh pen (I have purchased them before and they have been great).
The normal one that I buy was not availablele/in stock ended up with the only product stocked - purchased two, today I returned one, unused.
Reason it was absoulety useless, normally these products have an angled head to the sponge making it easy to aplly to all different types of tiles - not this product it had a square head making it impossible to get the flow of grout in between the tiles, which is where it is supposed to go - instead it made streaky lines down either side of the grouting line !
Returned the item, went home and ordered two online for the price of the one stocked at your store - worked perfectly.
Very disappointing and when I returned the item I explained they were not fit for purpose whilst my refund was being processed and as usual the member of your team operating the till - couldnt careless.
On a seperate note - I went to purchase some plants but it was so sad to see so many plants needing water and quite clearly will not get any, go unpurchased and Iam guessing destroyed - what waste.

DO NOT order doors from B&Q
I have ordered two bi fold doors with glass frames in the top half from B&Q and one was delievered with a big crack and the frame of the glass.
Mess #1: firstly on ordering I was told the item was coming on a certain day, I asked if it could be moved to the next day as I would be at work, they confirmed it. then still turned up the original day, an hour ahead of the time frame they gave me on the original date.
mess #2: I phoned the helpline and I was met by someone who really sounded like they couldnt be bothered, spoke to close to the mic so was hard to understand and didnt seem to know any of the stores processes. He told me that I had to pay to get someone to collect the door, then when I said I could get it to a store to maybe order a replacement he said I could do so.
within an hour of looking on b&q's website I noticed that the doors was actually out of stock and as I ordered them as a pair and my builder had put the first one up.
Stuck on what to do I asked if they could offer me a partial refund as I'll now need to buy something to fix this crack or try to return both doors (which they wouldnt let me do as we had put one up already). They offered me £8, then £10 as a partial refund, is that seriously the best you can do? the doors are a hundred pound each, and have arrive visibly broken. I dont think I can entertain ordering from B&Q again, its been an absolute shambles.
Went in looking for the specific oil…
Went in looking for the specific oil for my car. Shop aisles well signed, tablet available to help make sure that I got the specific oil that I wanted. It was there, the price was reasonable and the transaction went through smoothly. Pleasant staff and a good environment.

The B&Q customer service is aweful when you have a problem. Items delivered smashed on three occasions and very difficult to get my money back.

I purchased 5 bags of Jack’s Magic Compost online. I collected them from my nearest store in Ipswich and the staff were very efficient and helpful. One of them took the trolley out to my car which was great as they were very heavy. Great customer experience and would recommend this store.

No Stock ! Klikstrom Alize pergola side
We purchased a Klikstrom Alize pergola and later saw a side screen for it on display in B&Q Newry. We wanted to purchase one but were told there was none in stock and to go online which we did. It said there was one in Dublin, Isle of Man and Glasgow. We tried to purchase from Dublin without success. A few weeks later, while in B&Q Coleraine (25/6/26) we purchased and paid for one (home delivery to be Sunday 28th) - we waited at home all day Sunday but nothing was delivered. When we phoned the contact number, late afternoon, we were told it was ‘cancelled’ but they couldn’t explain why. We expressed our disappointment and were told someone else would contact us on Monday regarding the matter. The end result was that B&Q couldn’t fulfil the order and we were reimbursed. I’ve checked online since and still no stock! I don’t understand why this was on display in store (advertised) when no stock is available!!! And… we offered to buy the display model, but were told it wasn’t possible. Poor service on this occasion!!
Bedford store
Bedford store - Rude staff member and staff using phones on shift as well. Couldnt make it up. No one cares about keeping their job it seems can be rude and use phones on shift - also over priced vs everywhere else just avoid!
Missing item and no refund.
Delivery was left outside my front door earlier than expected and with no prior call. One item was not delivered, as marked on the delivery note but no refund, no redelivery. Called the helpline, was told I'd be called back but never was. Won't be shopping here again for a while.
